  1. So they are saying that they will fund MSN programs only if they have completed the RN portion and need funding for NP.....but when I started my application, I am eligible ?? I am wondering if I should still apply? I also thought that MSN-ENtry into Nursing students are eligible to apply ?
  2. I say something to consider is how much a RN or NP (whatever you are striving for) makes yearly in your state.. I know RNs with an MSN make on average $86k in Maryland, so hypothetically you can probably make student loan payments every month and still live comfortably. Do the math on monthly payments you would have to make depending on how many loans you would take out, then make your decision if it is worth taking them out. There are also several loan repayment programs nationally and on local state levels that pay up to 85% of student loan debts of nurses in return of you serving in an underserved area for x amount of years (depends on the program)..there are other faculty nurse loan repayment programs for nurses who plan to teach other nurses as nurse educators or faculty. I say that is always something to think about as you can apply every year, and never give up until you get it! I say do your research, it is very tedious, but I have been doing a lot in my downtime while in quarantine LOL. It is a lotttttt of money, and I am going back and forth with the decision myself. I hope this helps!
  3. I am applying too, and I thought about the stress that it might come w but also working in underserved communities is what makes the most impact & I am sure it feels way better than taking out loans especially depending on how expensive it is Good luck to everyone applying!
  4. Hey yall...for those still taking prerequisites still for Fall 2020, do you all think JHU would accept at least one pass class? my school is offering pass/fail due to COVID-19 crisis, I was thinking would it be possible that jh would take classes as pass under certain circumstances? (I.e. lack of reliable WiFi, stressful moving issues, etc)... just curious
  5. thanks for the encouragement and personal perspectives ! I definitely will apply now. Like you said, it wouldn't hurt && I think I am a competitive candidate so why not.. best of luck on everyone's nursing careers!
  6. ok nice. I emailed them as well. i will call too, and keep u updated. the cost is ridiculous. i will apply to nurse corps and nhsc but very competitive programs ugh...why is school so expensive ?
  7. ALso, I am entering an MSN program for 1 year, but I also want to get my DNP .. is it possible that the Nurse Corps can cover me for 4 years or should i apply for NHSC..did anyone face this dilemma?
  8. yes I received a scholarship, but I still owe a significant amount. I was just hoping to find other scholarships to where I dont have to take out as many loans if i dont need to
  9. I know the scholarship does not open for the 2020-2021 until a few months, but I wanted to know how competitive is it to get this scholarship? I see from the forum that financial need, commitment to underserved communities, grades, achievement are all factors; but likeee, I am curious about the odds. It also seems too good to be true
  10. I'm sure they are doing it over a course of days. Last year, I noticed people got acceptances from Dec.20-23
  11. are there any tips/pointers for scholarships other than the financial aid package they give us? i plan to attend fall 2020, and figuring out costs ?
  12. perfect. I was hoping it would be before Christmas! Best luck to everyone ?
  13. I think we are going to hear this week too. Probably Friday...
