Becoming an CNA before nursing school
I'm a New Grad RN 4 months into the job and one thing is clear. I wish I'd been a CNA in a hospital 1st!! I did an ABSN program for those who already had a BA/BS in another field, so my clinical program flew by. I have a deep science/medical background but I've already had many instances where experience as a CNA would have allowed me to make better (critical thinking) decisions and have better patient outcomes. I highly recommend you consider it. If nothing else it will help you optimize supervision of your CNAs whose performance is critical to patient safety. I'm living this first-hand: CNAs make a huge difference.

Califnurse1119 sorry for the late reply. My friend said they were the only candidate in their time slot and the interview was a panel of very nice people enthusiastic about St. John's. They said questions included a few general topics - why St Johns, why Providence, a few behavioral (how you handled a conflict, etc.), and some safety-focused questions (patient safety/med administration). From what others have said, it's probably a good idea to have some patient stories in mind too. Good luck tomorrow!!!! Take a deep breath, be yourself, and keep us posted. ?

CHLA RN Residency March 2020
Sorry for the delay. My rejection/thank you email was for Med Surg (D5)/Duque 5th floor. This means there's still hope for other units and especially those who applied to Med Surg (D5), but did not receive the email! Good luck all ?

I think you're right JoCl89! I looked at the last cohort thread and they said the first part of the interview was a panel and the second was with Unit managers. For the second part, they were given case studies/scenarios. I'm not sure if that's the same at all locations though.

One of the recruiters said interviews would take place on either 11/6 or 11/8. I saw openings only on the 8th, but I may have been contacted on the second batch. But that's only a guess! ?
