propofol
while propofol is great for some intubated patients, we also use nimbex for those icu holds we have in our er... we use propofol for sedations, but we call them "moderate sedations" not "conscious sedations" our pediatric ed uses propofol on all their sedations.

RN intubation in ED?
In NC intubation is an advanced nursing skill. I have been trained to intubate as well as intubated patients. The setting I used this skill was during critical care transports. I was trained in th ER under the supervision of either our medical director or ER doc. All transport nurses can intubate in our facility.

CMS Pneumonia indicators
WOW 100% is great! Our ED is so busy, it's hard to get 100% but we have moved to the 2nd decile in October. We see approx 100,000 patients a year. Our hospital also participates in all the indicators. Our numbers improved by developing standing orders and protocols in triage for suspected pneumonia as well as flag the patients in our computer system. What did your hospital do to improve so much? I am the clinical educator and work closely with the PI nurse in our department to brainstorm and come up with ideas. I am new here as well, nice meeting you too!

Has anyone tried BOTH Danskos and Birkenstocks?
Personally, I could not go to work not wearing my Danskos. I work in a 54 bed ER with an approx 300 patients per day working 12 hour shifts. My feet never hurt. The Dansko Sports have a softer sole and fit a bit more snug than the professionals. It is all in personal preference. I also like the fact they make me a bit taller, being only 5"1.

Certification pay
