  1. For those of you who accepted an OR internship with medical city, can you tell me what that pay is like? I see how other specialties have stipend of $1000 during first twelve weeks but everything I’ve read says “except for OR”. I’m interested in applying for OR but would like to know what my pay would be as an intern with that hospital system for that particular specialty.
  2. It really will. I've only heard great things about TWU's program, though. From what I've heard, hiring managers roll out the red carpet for a TWU nursing grad. If my situation was a little different, I'd probably be choosing TWU!
  3. I was accepted to the Accelerated Online BSN program at UTA for the spring and also received acceptance to TWU. Unless something huge comes up to change my mind, I will more than likely turn down my TWU spot. The flexibility to not have to be on campus all the time weighed the most on my decision (I have 4 kids). My UTA clinicals will mostly be on weekends as well, so it would be feasible for me to work part time during the week if I want. TWU is a great program though!
  4. I found this information about titers that explains the waiting period "Once vaccinated, titers should not be drawn until 6-8 weeks after the vaccination. • Why? If drawn too soon afterwards, the titers will indicate non-immunity as the vaccine will still be in your system."
  5. has anyone created a FB page for the AO Spring Cohort 22? I can't seem to find one if so and would like to be added.
  6. Here the information directly from their office: · Immunizations/titers* complete and correct documentation uploaded to InPlace no later than two days++ (by 5pm) of acceptance offer: o First dose of Hep A immunization o Hep B: Immunization series and titers as outlined in BSN Requirements. Note: POSITIVE TITER IS REQUIRED. Students working in hospitals/healthcare- Check your records now! Many healthcare facilities do not routinely draw titers. o MMR: Immunizations and titers as outlined in BSN Requirements. o Varicella: Immunizations and titers as outlined in BSN Requirements. o Tdap: Immunizations as outlined in BSN Requirements. § *Note: Titers are blood tests and must be positive, indicating immunity to the disease. ++Students must upload required immunization and titer documentation to InPlace within two days (by 5 pm) after receiving the acceptance offer. In Place instructions are attached. Maintaining a continuous subscription to InPlace is required throughout the program. Examples: If you receive the acceptance offer on Friday afternoon, you must upload the documents to InPlace by Sunday at 5pm. If you receive the acceptance offer on Monday morning, you must upload the documents to
  7. Well, at least you got confirmation from TWU! I'm still waiting for confirmation of eligibility and it is so nerve-racking. I don't have anything under my "to do" list and have confirmation they received my app and everything. Just no confirmation of eligibility or non-eligibility. I'm hesitant to email them again because I don't want to be annoying if they are still working through the applications.
  8. No, not partnered ? I think that's the biggest roadblock. Oh well, I will hold out hope to get pulled from waiting list.
  9. There is a spreadsheet on the nursing site (under the section about Houston Applicants) where you can calculate your admission score. Be sure to read the instructions! https://twu.edu/nursing/undergraduate-programs/bachelor-of-science-bs-with-a-major-in-nursing/ Is there anyone else still waiting on an eligibility email? I know they are busy, I just want to make sure I haven't missed something.
  10. Hey guys, I emailed and got this response. If you didn’t get a confirmation, don’t worry.
  11. Yeah, I think this was the first application cycle that they made people choose one over the other. Comparing my score to those that got in to the campus program this cycle, I would have easily been accepted on campus. But AO tends to be more difficult for some reason, not sure why...they might have more applicants for AO? I also applied to TWU but those decisions aren't made until late Oct/early Nov. I'd prefer the AO still, so I'm hoping to get the call off the waitlist so I can stop stressing! haha
  12. We can only wait at this point ? No need to stress, it's out of our hands. Seems like many of us have sent emails already. The email stated we have until 5pm on the 13th to respond, so we still have some time. I'm sure they will get the problem resolved and no one on the waitlist will be penalized, as it was an error on their part. Did you apply for the AO program? I did, but now I'm thinking I should have just applied to the on-campus since everything is up in the air now. Fingers crossed it all works out.
  13. When you got waitlisted and accepted the waitlist spot, did you have to withdraw your applications to other schools? I got waitlisted for AO with a score of 7.75. I don't know what my chances of being pulled off the waitlist are, but I also am waiting on TWU to make their decisions (which won't happen until Oct/Nov). I'm just wondering if I can accept the waitlist but keep my other application active just in case I don't get in...any insight?
  14. It asks under the "Program Materials" section of the application, under the "questions" tab.
  15. George, that sucks! Sorry you're dealing with this. This is all such a stressful process. I've heard of many applicants that lose their spots because they were of the impression that the immunizations just had to be completed before clinicals (I agree, I read that somewhere too). Have you applied to TWU? I know its not an accelerated program, but it is highly regarded and might have better luck with regards to the timing of the immunizations.
  16. I don't know. I personally can see how it could potentially make it MORE competitive, as everyone will be competing with higher scores. I got a 90.7 on my first attempt, and have decent TWU application score of 57, but decided to retake the TEAS tomorrow just to see if I can get my application score up to at least a 60. I would think the higher application score would make the process that much more competitive.
  17. Good to know! I got the same confirmation about the "verified" status from an advisor today as well. That was a relief, as I'm retaking my TEAS tomorrow to make myself more competitive so I was really concerned about the whole verification timeline.
  18. TWU confirmed receipt of my last transcript yesterday morning. I did get confirmation from an Nursing advisor that CAS just has to have everything by the 15th, not verified, so I should be good there. I have my TWU student ID and email address already, but I don't want to hit submit and then for some reason it get checked early and kicked back because I'm still missing my official acceptance. I'm not going to worry just yet, as I feel like as long as CAS shows receipt of my transcripts, the other stuff won't take as long...
  19. I have a previous bachelor's and am applying as a transfer, so I don't think I wouldn't get accepted for general admission. I'm wondering if I can hit submit now so CAS can start verifying, as long as I have an official acceptance by 8/15 from TWU? What do you guys think? I doubt they will review any parts of the applications prior to that date...right?
  20. I read today that it DOES have to be verified by Aug 15 to be considered. It was under the program materials page. This makes me so nervous because I can't hit "submit" until I hear back officially from TWU, then I'm afraid it won't be enough time for CAS to verify. Has anyone spoken to an advisor that said as long as everything is submitted its ok? Here is what it says verbatim: "Official transcripts from each college you’ve attended with all college-level coursework (including dual credit) must be submitted to both TWU’s Office of Admissions Processing and NursingCAS. Your NursingCAS application must be verified by the August 15, 2019 application deadline in order to be eligible for consideration. This means that you must enter all previously earned, in-progress, and planned college-level coursework in the NursingCAS application, and provide official transcripts electronically or via mail to NursingCAS."
  21. I'm in the same boat as some of you: I submitted my app to the Dallas cohort 5/24 and sent transcripts All green boxes were officially checked off, including transcripts received 6/12 Never got a transcript eval and haven't heard anything on interviews either. ??
  22. For those of you have received your interview invites, what cohort did you apply to? I know in years past they sent out interview invites for different cohorts on different days so I'm just trying to stay sane.
  23. Hi there! I've read pages and pages of discussions on this topic from the past couple years just to get a grip on what to expect. I am finishing my CNA class this week and completed the BLS cert as well, which were the last 2 items I needed. I am applying to the Dallas cohort, anyone else? I'm nervous: I've read that in the past couple years they've only had about 15 spots open in Dallas. Also, what did you guys upload for the bachelor degree supplemental item? My transcripts show degree award date of 2012, so I'm wondering if that works or if I need to find my actual framed degree in my garage somewhere and get a picture of it to upload?
