PPE observers?
This is exactly what we are doing too. We are going down from ratio of 4 or 5 pts to one RN to 2:1. All of ours are rule outs so far! They are limiting staff to go in these rooms as much as possible and some staff absolutely cannot go in these rooms (even the anteroom) for example, all of our meal trays are going to be disposable and dietary will give it to the nurse outside the anteroom. We also have certain rules for house keeping too. Good luck out there, very stressful times!

I quit
What about pre op or pacu? I put in my notice 2 weeks ago have 2 weeks left. Your situation sounds like mine but I also needed more “regular” work hours due to my six year old. I will be going to a clinic after my 2 weeks is up, back to m-f work life with the rest of the world. I had an interview with pre op/pacu and it seemed way more chill than floor nursing! The only reason I didn't take it was because of the hours with my daughter . Maybe that is something you could consider? Goos luck with whatever you do!

How long should I reach out after interview for f/u?
Thank you! After the interview I had for the job I work at now it did not take long for an offer. So I do not have much to compare this to. Thanks again!

How long should I reach out after interview for f/u?
So I had an interview last week in Pre-Op services and felt the interview went very well. When I left the nurse manager told me to go home discuss with my family and to email here what I thought about the position and when she should reach out to my current manager. I emailed the interviewing manager the next afternoon and I told her that after doing some thinking I felt the position would work well for me and I had spoke with my current manager about applying to other jobs and thanked her for her time. She responded immediately asking again what hours would work best, 3 12s or 4 10s, I responded with the answer but I have not heard anything since. When should I reach out to her? Tmw will be one week since the interview. I don't want to seem pushy but I do want her to know I am still interested. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Advice on new job location
Hello everyone. I am in need of some advise. Long story short I may be starting a new job at near by hospital on an Oncology unit. It will be closer to home, non-rotating shifts, free parking and I had clinicals on this unit when I was in nursing school so I know "sort of" what to expect. The problem is I will be leaving a hospital I have been working with for the past 11 years! I have only been an RN for 8 months now but worked previously as a CMA for this organization. I hate to throw away my years of service but I have MANY more years to work before retirement. The unit I work on now is a VERY heavy Gen Med unit plus I rotate shifts which is starting to take a toll on my body and family life. So my question is should I take the new job (that is if it is even offered to me) or hang in and keep looking for something else with my current organization. Thanks in advance for any advice.

RN program work load
Hello! So I just received my ADN in May and yes I worked 40 hours a week during my "nursing school career"". I was very lucky to live in an area where the community college offered a night program. My typical week was work M-F 8-5, then class two nights a week 6-9ish then clinicals on weekends, typically it was just Saturday or Sunday but there were times we had to go both days. I will be honest it was the hardest thing I ever did (and plan on doing) and there were many times I thought about throwing the towel in. My husband along with the rest of my family were very supportive especially when it came to helping take care of my daughter. My job was very supportive too when I just needed to take a day to regroup/study/etc. It is possible if you have the determination and support. Did I make all A's...heck no! (I did make a few throughout the program :-) ) but I did have to have an average of 80 to make it throughout the program. Good luck! If you want this bad enough you can make it happen!
