  1. Hi! I'm currently in my first semester at UBC-V! I just graduated from SFU in May, so I understand what you mean about spending another 4 years in school. I decided I wanted to go into nursing in maybe year 3 as well? But i decided to finish my degree ... And I don't regret spending that extra time finishing it up! In my opinion, I would shoot for the 20 month program rather than four years but it's totally up to you and how confident you feel. Your profile seems great and if you need any help with your supplemental application, personal message me because I have a whole month off in December :)! Good luck with everything
  2. haha i know!!! the schedule looks crazy
  3. All the labs are accurate because we need a lot of training before we start clinicals in September! Clinicals will be either tues/weds OR sat/sun
  4. Same that's my fear i don't wanna be late for class at 9am! I think the best thing is to try out both for the first few weeks of school and see how it goes from there. The good thing is we only have to go up to campus 3x a week once clinicals start so we won't be doing this everyday haha
  5. I'll be commuting from Surrey! I'm gonna be taking transit, but on lab days I might just drive depending on which time slot I get for the two hours.
  6. I'm hoping you decide to start this September!! But of course you know your own limits so go with what you feel is best for your health. I have been through my fair share of mental health concerns and it's been a long journey through university because of it, so just know that you will definitely find a great support system (including me!!!) who really do understand these struggles.
  7. Looking forward to meet you as well!! I tried to search up reviews on ratemyprof but i also couldn't find anything. I think we'll all just find out on the first day of classes lol ? UBC bookstore probably won't publish the textbook list until second week of August but the textbook list is up on the UBC School of Nursing webpage + there's a link for a used textbooks google doc on the UBC BSN cohort page (facebook)!
  8. Nope you don't have to be registered! Just google 'UBC BSN textbook list' and click the first link, scroll down and click 'program textbook list' and the 2019 one should be there!
  9. The textbook list is up for our cohort! :)
  10. Thank you so much @mb96!!! I think i'll pay one term at a time since I applied for a student loan from sept-dec 2019
  11. Nope you don't need to choose any courses individually! Just save that whole thing to your worklist at the top right corner! Near your registration time just click that worklist and you'll have an option at the bottom of the page to 'register all courses'
  12. Does anyone know whether we pay the full tuition amount (~$7000) before Sept 4? Or can we pay the term 2 tuition fee by January 2020? Not sure how it works, at SFU we only registered for 1 semester at a time
  13. Same! I had no idea what STT was initially. You just click 'Browse' on the registration section and then click 'BSN' and add it to your worklist.
  14. registered for my courses! this is soooo exciting ?
  15. Yeah I just picked the STT and that was it! I added it to my work list for my registration at 11am tomorrow
  16. So sorry to hear that you didn't make it this round. but hey, don't worry you've got so much time!!! I actually made up my mind to pursue nursing in my 4th year of BSc and randomly applied to UBC. I was aiming towards med school but I just couldn't go that route (too many years, i wanna start a family at the end of my 20s, etc. lol, and i really wanna be involved with patients-- not just give orders). Basically, my volunteer work was NOT aimed towards nursing, it was more towards leadership/research. I'm a mentor with Big Sisters of BC, I have been volunteering at a care home for four years, I did some clinical research experience in a dialysis unit, and did some research in a lab related to care homes/falls. My GPA was a 3.97 on my last 30 credits! I hope this helps a little and if you have any questions closer to the 2020 application, feel free to personal message me ?
  17. Hey guys! Back in May during initial acceptances they said SSC would be updated in 10 days, but it was done in 2-3. So expect it to be updated way before!!
  18. Good luck everyone! My mom and brother both completed nursing at Langara, it is def an amazing program. I didn't end up applying because unfortunately it's an extra year as opposed to UBC. Wishing you guys all the best!! ?❤️
  19. I think the biggest factor is the 20 months! I can't wait to go into the workforce so I can get those 2 years done before pursuing MN-NP at UBC again
  20. I think so!! I'm adding the courses to my worklist right now so that it's easier on the day of and I know omg it was such a pain registering for courses
  21. Just got an email for my registration date I'm getting so excited!
  22. CONGRATS!! YAY!! Will you be picking UBC?!
  23. Definitely is a hard decision! My mom told me she had two UBC students in her ICU department doing their preceptorship i think just 2 months ago?!! She said they were doing great and were working well with their team
  24. I think last year people heard back before June 15th? Or around then? So just two more weeks!!! I didn't actually apply to BCIT but I definitely considered it because it's only 20 mins from my house (as opposed to UBC which is 1.5 hours on transit). I did my A&P I & II at BCIT just last semester and I absolutely loved the school but honestly I just couldn't spend another 3 years in school. I finished up my 4 yr degree last sem and spending another 3 + 2 yrs working before another 2 yrs of MN-NP was just too much in my mind. I love that UBC is only 20 months but of course there might be some drawbacks in terms of clinical experience... Totally up to you to weigh the pros and cons depending on your situation. For me, my brother & mom are both registered nurses so I've got that extra help around me if I'm struggling when i get to the work force.
  25. I haven't received a letter in the mail yet!
