Kentucky Board KARE
From what I can assume, you are finally facing the consequences of your impairment a year and a half ago. If this is true, you could have an advantage as it is now on the facility that reported you to provide proof that you were an impaired. If this is the case, deny any accusations of being impaired. If you admit to any wrongdoing then will be immediately required to start digging yourself out of hole by getting a drug and alcohol evaluation, possibly receiving inpatient care for drug and alcohol abuse, admit to having a substance use disorder, and finally signing an agreement to enter in to the 5 year long KARE program. Your best hope is to be reprimanded for your actions but by admitting that you were working impaired is equal to pleading guilty to a judge. If you have money for a lawyer then go ahead and get one but if not, just fight for yourself. Youre already in a hole by having your license suspended so you don't have a whole lot to lose. Get and stay clean and do not admit to having a substance use problem.

If you elected KARE then it does not have to be a nursing position. But you do have to provide them with a copy of the agreement and have them update the KBON however often it says to in the agreement. There is another punishment that does require us to have a nursing position but it is not KARE.

Concerta on Fern Valley road is open 24/7. You'll have to use them if you end up getting called on a work day. Beware though, not only are they typically more busy than Labcorp but are much more expensive. A $55 test from Labcorp will cost $90 at Concerta.

Those test probably look for more substances than usual therefore it takes longer to result. Its unfortunate about the poppy seeds though.. how far along in the process were you?

Consider getting a lawyer if you can afford one. If anything, consult with one on what exactly to do

You all have got to STOP posting personal comments about the BON in here. They are monitoring every single word you say on here and will use it against you. Doesn't matter how positive you towards your own situation or others, they will find that one negative thing you said and hold it over your head if need be. If you want to vent your frustrations, do it through personal messages or outside of the forum. Trust me.

I was an RN for 10 years and put in 4 years and 2 months into the KARE program. They popped me with an ETG on an off day and all that time, money and effort spent complying with their strict rules went down the toilet. Best thing to do is never admit to any wrong doing and you'll be fine. Even the Affinity MD they had testify against me was unsure of my test results during cross examination. My counselor, who is more credentialed than all of the board combined, said suspending me was the worst thing they could do to me. They did it anyway. Be careful what you post on here. They monitor it and will use it against you in the absolute worst way.

Kentucky Board KARE
Do not post your frustrations with the Board on here. They monitor this site and will use every negative thing you say against them against YOU! Be careful not to admit to any wrong doing. Let your attorney handle any further complaints or issues that may arise and don't sign ANYTHING until you do so! Good luck

Yes I would go ahead and ask what happens next. But I think there will be some formal exit interview along with you signing something that says your no longer bound to your KARE contract. You'd like to think it'd be as "formal" as one could imagine but honestly I think they'll say you're done.. and you'll be done. Congrats

Don’t worry, I had a year to get over my bitterness. And that’s while I was waiting on my “trial” to begin. This one when the country shut down so perfect timing to reflect. It was an extremely traumatic time for me, to be honest, I know that I’m just bottling it all up. I wonder when it’ll all manifest itself and what I’ll look like or be doing, when it does. Do everything you can to succeed. You’re very soul depends on it.

Yea I always wondered how much affinity takes home from these contracts. honestly, you can’t run an entire government agency just on annual licensure fees.

They really only ever order it if you’ve failed an Etg test. It’s just extra fodder to solidify their arguement to suspend your license.

Yes my situation was extremely similar to yours. But you shouldn’t post anything on here. They monitor this site and anything you say here WILL be used against you. seems like you have a mighty uphill battle to fight. You were right to deny anything. My license is suspended because of a negative etg and it took a year for them to finally suspend it. I was tricked into signing the cease practice order as well. Thankfully this happened at the height of COVID when the government sent out PUA assistance or else I would’ve lost my home and my family. Do not trust them. They DO NOT have your best interest in mind. My evaluator said I should keep my license and that me losing it “would be the worst possible thing that could happen” to me. They did not KARE.

Do not trust the board. They DO NOT have your best interest in mind. Never say anything or admit to anything. They do NOT want to be a nurse anymore. I agree about the money scheme. Affinity is making a killing off our suffering. I’ve had to go to the governor about my issues. I’m hoping for a pardon since the board governs themselves. You “case manager” is an Investigator and nothing more. They don’t care if you newborn died and you relapsed. They’ll still suspend your license. Don’t post on here anymore. Everything you say, as heartfelt as it, will be used against you! They’ll pick one sentence out and screw you over!
