The admissions office can't tell you anything specifically about when you might hear. I would interpret that as EVERYone who applied by the early deadline will hear by mid Sept. However, those accepted will probably hear this weekend via email.

I heard that we will hear by the end of August/first week of September. If you don't receive an email or call of acceptance that means you were waitlisted or rejected and you will receive notice by snail mail.
