  1. I have my BSN, 1 year med/surg/tele experience and 1 year of emergency experience, floating to ICU occasionally. I want to continue to work in the ED, per diem only. I want to do online Masters program, but do not want to become a NP. Or maybe its because I don't want to become a ED NP, I have no idea. Anyways I am on the hunt for a new job, but I really need direction. I am easy going, adaptable, willing to learn. Was thinking of doing corrections nursing, but my husband isn't huge fan of that. Also thought aesthetics nursing would be fun, or IV infusions. I would appreciate any direction, tips, advice, of options. I keep hearing after a couple years hospital experience, that I have so many opportunities, but maybe I am just not seeing them? I live in CA, and indeed has mostly hospital, or home health listings.
  2. I have applied to the county RN1/relief nurse position and will be taking the test soon. I want to go into the ICU. I've read that LAC USC first puts you in medsurg for about 6 months then you may be able to transfer into the ICU cohort. Then I've read that Harbor UCLA puts you right in to ICU. I am concerned that I will be stuck in medsurg if I go with LAC USC. What are your thoughts on which hospital would give me the best training? How do the cultures of the hospitals differ? Is one hospital superior over the other in how it looks on your resume? Thank you in advance!
