  1. I agree Vicky, that's a great attitude to have. What will be will be. Good luck to everyone.
  2. My friend was accepted to the Spring program; she began in April in the ER. She loves it, is learning a lot. I believe she said the interview was not extremely difficult - typical interview questions, but I will find out; not sure if it was a panel. The 500 apps she was referring to is for the Fall program.
  3. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I talked to a friend who was accepted to the VA's new grad program that began in April - one of the directors told her that there were 500 applicants this time around. Just an FYI.
  4. Just curious - what city/town are you in? I grew up in Missoula, and have actually been seriously considering applying for new grad positions in Montana, since I seem to be swimming in competition, here in Northern CA. Good luck!!! I miss MT.
  5. I applied too. I chose med/surg, ER & acute Psych. I heard that during last opening (this spring), they only looked at applicants' first choice, due to the large # of apps....sigh...but who knows. Good luck everyone. I'll update if I hear anything new.
  6. Since I graduated in Dec. 08, I've worked as an RN at a day health facility (kind of like a senior center - participants don't stay overnight) in SF & I get paid $30/hr. I saw a nursing home position that paid $36-$38, DOE, though.
  7. There are also 10 new grad positions posted on the Catholic Healthcare West (CHW) job page for Mercy Hospital in Bakersfield, if anyone is interested.
  8. Stanford just posted their July new grad program on their website today.
  9. Thank you so much for the info, RNLola. And thanks, piscesmama for starting this thread. As we all know, here in Northern CA, the job search is SO DIFFICULT. We can use all the help we can get!
  10. Hi Edwin, I'm in a similar position as you, although I've worked since graduation as an RN at a sub-acute day health facility for 3months. I'm also considering applying to San Quentin. Did you get hired? If so, do you like it? thanks!
  11. Congratulations to you!!!!!!!!!!:roll :rotfl:
  12. Both interviews had similar questions. Straight-forward, not difficult questions. Both the faculty member and the Nurse Manager were very friendly and talkative. It was a good experience. There are so many qualified applicants, I'm sure it is a difficult decision process. Too bad we have to wait a month to find out acceptance/denial status!
  13. Rchamp - I wonder if the second interview relates to each chosen specialty - mine is at SF General Hospital on the 18th.....(this excludes people who aren't local; I think everything happens on the same day for people flying in).
  14. I found some helpful info. online regarding UCSF MEPN interviews, for those who are interested: http://www.somethingunderstood.org/archives/2005/01/interview_day.html
  15. Ir - There is an orientation day January 13th. I am also scheduled to show up on the 18th, for another interview day at another location - i'm not sure if other people have a similar schedule..... I'm sure that they will take into consideration that you are not local, if you contact them..........
