Urgent Care?
Hi guys! I am looking for some advice about maybe moving toward an urgent care clinic ! I'm a new nurse (about to hit my 1 year mark) and have been working on a cardiac/med-surg floor at a hospital. I love the people and teamwork on my floor, but I am finding it really hard to keep my head up in the midst of all the med-surg craziness, short-staffing, and general stressors that come with bedside nursing. So, I have been looking into some job openings in my area and found an Urgent Care RN clinic position! It is 8-8 three days a week so pretty similar to my current 7-7 job along with rotating weekends which I already do, so it does not look bad to me shift wise. I've interned in a clinic before and absolutely loved it with getting patients in and out, clinic testing, teaching, etc., so I feel like I would really enjoy it and that it would be a nice (maybe less stressful in ways) change from bedside nursing. However, I am struggling with whether I should apply or not because I am still so new at nursing... is it too early to even consider switching to a role outside of bedside so soon? I was thinking of trying to start in January or sometime near the end of the year so I would definitely finish my full year + a few months of bedside experience, but is it recommended to do at least 2 years of bedside nursing before trying something else? With nursing I know there are SO many options out there (I've always been interested in different areas like urgent care, primary care, public health nursing and even mother/baby) so if I switched to urgent care now, would I kind of be dead-ending my options to try other things later on or would urgent care just help open up more opportunities for later? If I switched now, would I ever be able to get back into bedside if I so desired it? I guess I am just worried about changing to urgent care because I really don't want to dig my future career options into the ground per se if I switch out of bedside nursing so early on in my career if that makes sense... but at the same time I feel like a change is needed with how stressful bedside has been lately. Obviously I'm super indecisive about this, but I would love to get others' opinions on this!

I know I was shocked, but it was really great that they let you know so quick - no overthinking your answers or a super long wait! And yes - I accepted an offer on the cardiac floor and am so excited! ? Everyone was super nice too!

I interviewed with Northside Cherokee last week and they gave me 48 hours to accept an offer! They called me two hours after the interview, so make sure to keep your phone near you after yours!

Choosing a unit - HELP!
I really need some advice - I am about to graduate nursing school in May and was just offered a job on either a Pulmonary/General Medicine floor or a Cardiology floor at the same hospital (yay!)... BUT, I have no idea which one to choose! I've been on the Progressive Care Unit/Cardiac Step-down for my practicum this semester and I've loved it, but I am just at a loss of which unit to choose for my new grad job. The pulmonary floor is 1:3 ratio right now with COVID and the cardiology floor is 1:4-5 days and 1:5-6 nights. Of course I need to make this decision on my own, but does anyone have any advice or insight for these two units? I really love progressive care, but this hospital does not have one. Long-term I am aiming for PCU or ICU after gaining general nursing experience as a new grad and am not sure if either unit would be better to have experience on if those are my long-term goals.

Nursing School and COVID-19
So my nursing school just went fully online for the rest of the semester, cancelling all clinicals and replacing them with "online sims" amid this COVID-19 crisis. I'm very disappointed that we will not be able to continue with clinicals as I was not able to get to the OB and pediatric clinicals that were later in the semester. Now I am worried that this will impact my nursing education and skills that I will need in the future as I had about 5 weeks of clinicals left. I know it had to be done and this is just such an unprecedented situation... I guess I just needed to vent a little bit. But, I'm just curious as to how other schools are handling this situation? How have you all been impacted by this?

Vanderbilt MSN 2019
Hey guys! I will graduate with a BS in Health Promotion this upcoming May... do you guys know which "area of study" on the application I should choose in this case? I'm interested in the Pre-Specialty-Master's program but all the different area of study nursing options have me confused as to which one I need to choose on the application!
