I wasn't happy where I ended up in life after college. I wanted something stable, decently paid, and interesting. I met some nursing and pre-nursing students few years ago in a new part-time job and became interested in nursing through them and their experiences. they were attending a local community college so I decided to give it a go there. it was local and I could afford it so I've been taking prerequisites there and hope to get into their nursing program as well. I'm going to get a nursing assistant certification too soon to get some experience and get a feel for the field as well before going into nursing school. I really like how many different specialties there are in nursing and different environments I could work in. I can even advance further in my education if I wanted to as well. it seems like an interesting and vast career with many possibilities.

If you feel drawn to MD/DO go for it. You have a nice GPA and I can see you being successful in premed if you maintain it. Knock out remaining prerequisites, use CNA certification to get clinical experience. You mentioned EMT that's great experience too as is medical scribe. Do some volunteering/shadowing once COVID-19 situation is more under control, get good recommendations etc. There's a lot of prep that goes into medical school applications. If it doesn't work out you can always consider PA since they have similar prereqs or reconsider RN. Whatever you end up doing, put your all in it so you don't have regrets. Good luck.

When I took A&P2 we covered the circulatory, respiratory, digestive, urinary, endocrine and reproductive systems. The lab portion we covered/memorized stuff on the arteries/veins, EKG, blood, blood types and the types of cells found in blood (and had to memorize the blood flow through the body as well as arteries/veins.. (professor would pick a section and tell us to explain how the blood was moving starting from a certain point and name the veins/arteries in that section in order), a lab on the heart and we had to memorize the chambers/blood flow/valves, type of muscle that made up the heart, etc. Urine lab we had fake urine and had to identify certain things about different urine samples. There were dissections on pigs and a steer heart. We reused both for different labs. I'm not sure how I would have prepared differently if I had to take it again for the first time. Maybe more active studying through flashcards/etc instead of relistening to lectures/passively watching videos. Most of my studying I did through quizlet though there are other similar websites like it. You can find related study guides/flashcards on quizlet from other students or create your own. You can also check out Anatomy and Physiology on Khan Academy it tests you as you go through the different systems. It might be a good prep before you take the class.

You should check out "The Psych Dude" on Youtube. He's a Psych NP and his videos are mainly about the profession as well as topics related to nursing.

Are you looking at their accelerated Nursing program? If so you are in the right range for the prerequisite grades. I don't think retaking is necessary. They want minimum C in their non-science pre-reqs and a minimum of B in science pre-reqs. On their sample pre-reqs page they encourage students with grades not meeting minimums to retake classes so I don't think they'd look down on someone wanting to improve their application. I'm considering Rutgers too but I have to retake A&P2. Retakes and their grades show up on transcripts but shouldn't affect the application.

Hello. My mother recently expressed interest in becoming a BSN RN. She currently has a Bachelors in an unrelated field and would prefer an accelerated program that would lead to a BSN quickly but also be online, only attending clinicals in person. Does anyone know of any good hybrid ABSN programs that are designed like this around NY, NJ, or PA? I've only heard of Felician University's Hybrid ABSN in NJ so far. Any more recommendations would be appreciated.
