  1. Im doing prior authorization from home, and handling covid calls from home. I Worked the bedside for 12 years and was burnt from covid.
  2. Do far so good! I love it, however it is only day 3 today! My facility is just about ready for survey! A lot of things were corrected from the previous one! I will be shadowing each team member just to get an idea of what they do and how they do it. You didn’t poison anything! Don’t worry I chuckled at your comment!
  3. No I can not because im nobody’s scapegoat but thanks for your support!
  4. Congrats. When is your next survey due? Regardless of what position, I always checked the old survey to make sure deficiencies pertinent to me were answered or they were in the process. And be friendly with other dept heads. Good luck. Thanks for responding! The next survey is due any day now and I start on Monday!!?
  5. I recently accepted a position for an assistant director of nursing at a LTC facility and would like any tips to start off with to be successful!thank you
  6. Is it better to get paid salary, per visit or hourly with hospice care and do any of you work for lhc group?
  7. You are right because I put in 40 applications before I landed my work from home remote job. I start on Monday.
  8. Private message sent thanks
  9. Hello what do you use for secure wifi when traveling???
  10. Hi I’m coming from bedside nursing and moving to homehealth! Since I am new to homehealth can you all give me some tips for survival??
  11. Hello I am in this exact situation now. I currently work ER. My original plan was to stay at least 2 years and then apply for a job in education either doing clinical or fulltime faculty. Well my opportunity came earlier than expected. I was offered a FT faculty position to teach the junior and senior lpn class. I would teach them a little medsurg which is my background and ob and peds. I will team up with another member for leadership. I really want it but I don’t like change. I am Still deciding if I should take it or not. The best advice I can give is follow your heart. Best of luck
  12. Anyone works for a for profit college? If so, what are the benefits like for educators? I’m new to the world of academia since I have been at the bedside for years. I will be teaching a lpn class. Any advice or tips?
  13. I chose the ER! Thanks for all your input!
  14. I posted in ED and General but yes I am leaning more towards the ED!
  15. I asked to shadow and was told no.
  16. My family felt the same but I’m in a clinic where we don’t interact with “known” covid pts. Anyone with respiratory symptoms get sent directly to ED or urgent care.
  17. Thanks for your input! From your perspective it sounds like something I would enjoy. Granted there are good and bad days in the ED.
  18. Great point!
  19. From what I understand it’s a four month orientation. the only thing that would stop me is the hours. The hours is 10 AM to 10 PM with the option of 7 days on and 7 off or 5 off and 5 on, or a weekend special of 7a-7p. The MedSurg position is 7 AM to 7 PM with a 3 day on 2 day off schedule and vice versa . The Clinic where I work the hours are 8 to 430 Monday through Friday but I feel like I’m not learning anything as a new RN. I want the experience but I am not comfortable with change. My heart says ER because I crave something new but my mind says go where you know you will succeed which is medsurg.
  20. I would like to do FNP if I’m not teaching somewhere later in life. I think I must mention I get bored easily and was the reason I left medsurg 2 years ago and went to the family clinic. Our clinic has a variety of patients from newborn to geriatric with OB included but the only skills we use is vitals and every now and then we will have an IUD or implant. Otherwise nothing else. I was promised I would see more before going to the clinic which is why I took the position there. Now I feel as if I don’t use my skills I will lose it.
  21. Our ER is a 22 bed unit that can manage any level of trauma!
  22. Hello fellow nurses! I need lots of opinions. I have been a lpn on a medsurg floor for 9.5 years. I recently graduated and obtained my RN and am currently working in an ambulatory clinic. I want to leave the clinic because I don’t feel any job satisfaction since we use zero nursing skills. We triage like at a MD office and send them home. I have been offered a medsurg position and an ER position. I applied for medsurg because thats all I know as a LPN but not RN and I find its my comfort zone. I want to try ER but am terrified of the unknown! However, I want to challenge myself to do critical care nursing. In the future I would either like to teach nursing or become a NP. Any advice on which way to go? I have to give them a response by Friday?

  24. At the school where I attend the lowest gpa to get in was a 2.0! However, they do take into account teas scores, gpa, and classes you took at the university. Don’t give up hope just yet!
  25. Thanks I am really nervous about all this. Hopefully it will go away soon!
