Unhappy with new job
I actually know what your going through. I got hired at a LTC as CNA but just took my boards last week. I too have seen things that are not right in my facility. For instance they want us to lie in our charting so the facility can make more money:nono:. That made me feel uncomfortable and make me think "where does integrity come in". Some LTC's try to save money or on a budget type of deal and dont really want to take the time and money to hire more nurses or CNA's.Coming from your position, you are hired as a nurse and there is a difference in helping someone when you have the time to, but with med passes it can be difficult.Especially when they rotate you alot and throw ya out after 3 days. If your not happy with that facility, leave when you are able. The facility sounds badly ran.

Soooo nervous about NCLEX-PN results
I also agree with Cashews comment as well. I took my boards Tuesday and I was feeling the same way. I was very stressed. Until I thought to myself, I did the best I could do and thats what matters the most.Me stressing over my results isnt going to make the test score change. So Im taking it easy doing and enjoying things I would have done if I werent studyng for the nclex! Hope that helps. I have also question why california isnt up to par on the quick results.

:balloons::balloons::balloons:Congratulations Nurse Mimi:nurse:. Im happy you passed, but jealous as well because you got your results faster You know, I saw the computer pause as well on my test and I was like" okay what does that mean?".It paused after #52.So thats a good sign from the looks of it then. Okay 1 down 3 to go.Its just Scallywag, Emy and I.

Need Advice/thoughts on when to clean Poop up in shower
Thank you very much for your reply. I agree, I did all I could and couldnt and thats when I called for help.I dont mind cleaning feces up, but when its out of my control I cant do anything. I didnt know I was a hired as a housekeeper. I made up my mind that am leaving this facility pretty soon, after I get my nclex test results back.I guess thats why they have a high turn over rate for CNA's.

Wow, umpalumpa. That was hard .You can correct me on my terminology, but somehow can seem to phrase your comments in a unappropriate manner.

Nclex "check All That Apply"
- Took Nclex today and shut off @ 85
Well I finally took the Nclex today and feel very nervous and unsure. It seems when i walked away from the test I felt numb. The computer shut off at 85 w/ 1 hard question at the end and I was screaming in my head no!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wanted to answer more questions to make up for that bad one. The torture starts today until another 4 weeks before I get my results:biere:. The saunders Comprehensive nclex -PN helped alot .- Need Advice/thoughts on when to clean Poop up in shower
Thanks for the advice. Im still kind of new in this facility so its frustrating sometimes when one person says another thing that isnt true. Thanks.- Need Advice/thoughts on when to clean Poop up in shower
I have a questions for all my cna's. Ive just started working at this Rehab / LTC facility. Ive went above and beyond my duties as a CNA.I love my patients and love working with them. I clean my patients and they are never left smelling. I guess to say im not a lzy CNA. Not to be graphic but here it is.... My concern is today I took my patient into the shower and he pooped a big pile of poop.I dont think towels would cleaned it up.( it was watery).Besides I couldn't sweep it away with the shower like I would normally do because the shower head couldnt reach where it was. You needed the right tools( a mop to clean it up). So i called housekeeping and they told me they would clean it up, so I went about my day . After im done with my shift. The HR person comes to me and asked why I didnt clean it up. i told them i called housekeeping earlier. She said that they didnt do that, only if it is a small job. I informed her that they said they would clean it up. Hello... if its a small job I can do it. After the conclusion when I found out I had to do it. I just picked up the towels I put over it and left. Im wondering if Im wrong in any way. is it our jobs to pick up a big pile of watery poopor? isnt that where housekeeping comes in when we can't clean it up properly. Any thoughts or concerns- LPN Hiring Trends
Unfortunely your right. With the hospitals wanting to become Magnet Status, they only want to hire RN's.More $$$ for the Hosptial. LVNS/LPNs are being channeled to either Home health care or LTC's. Its kind of discouraging. The way I see it, nursing is always going from one trend to another.Eventually, since CNA'a and LVN/LPN's are being booted out acute settings the RN's are going to have to pick up the work of CNA's and LPN's/LVN's which in a long run they may not be happy about. So again, we may see LVN's coming back into the hospital settings.- LPN = Life's Perfect Nurses
Amen to that:lol2:. I work @ a LTC/ Rehab and I have co-workers who gossips and snip at each other. Its sad but true. And they wonder why I keep to my self- Taking the NCLEX soon???
Congratulations Cristos:balloons::balloons::balloons:. Rub some good luck dust my way. I take my exam on August 21st.Thanks for the advice.- LPN = Life's Perfect Nurses
I like that! Everything is not for everybody. If a LVN/LPN is happy with her career ,who cares what other people think. Thats a total myth that" LPN's or LVN's do not have more critical thinking skills than RN's". Its depends on the education youve had along with addtional knowledge/training. I believe my school has taught me good critical thinking skills and my school is known to be the best LVN school here in the area I lived. Ive seen some RN's who do not have good critical thinking skills.Yes Rn's have more education, but doesnt mean there better than an LVN.Ive seen some good ones on my clincal rotation that run the show. Just my 2 sense;)- I just took the NCLEX - PN, my thoughts.
Good Luck to you . Im sure you did just fine. You ll be posting a quote saying you passed!- HCR Manor Care Facilities
well I can tell you at the facility that I work at it is not the case. Its a nice facility in all, but there is a downside to it. 1. The understaff and alot of time the nurses have to pull doubles and is tired, because they dont want to hire outside agencies( cheeap!!!) 2. They say everyone answer's call lights even managment,ha!!!, thats not the case they take out time calling other people instead of answering them. 3. They have new orientations every other week for new people because there is a high turnover rate. They tell you this and that and try to sweeten things up a bit at oreintation ,but once you get on the floor you are out on your own.I agree I only got a few days of orientation about 2 weeks. This a a company and a company needs to make profits...so they do what ever they to do to do just that. The residence's get short changed in the end.DO NOT WORK HERE>- Advice about LPN
Go for it. Alot of people want to get into the RN program, but forget about the LVN route. If you are willing to wait for the RN and want to go straight through, then all means do it.You have to do what fits into your lifestlye. I just graduated in May and I dont ever regret going to the LVN route, because from what I hear the LVN program gives you more skills base versus RN,at least around where I live. You can always go back to school for RN , but you want to get your foot in the door first.Once you graduated from the LVN program, the LVN-RN will be a piece of cake. You can make decent money while you work.Indiana State University just approved a LVN-BSN program this Feb so thats another option. Im Going throught the LVN-BSN route myself.good luck to you:balloons:- Trying To Pass!!
:monkeydance::balloons::biggringi:jester:Congrats Nurse !!! That was fast.I take it your not in California;)- CNA job is SO MUCH HARDER!!!...
Well isnt this refreshing :). I can really relate to what people here are feeling. I just graduated from LVN school and waiting to take my boards. I quit my collection job because I was burned out and took on a full-time days CNA position at a LTC/Rehab. I worked in acute hospital PRN, but it is a big difference! There are days when I say. "Why didnt I just keep my other job until I passed my boards". But some little voice also says to hang in there. I have some unhelpful co-workers as well. I have to keep my mind focused on what Im there for and the is the patients. Thanks needed to vent! Im feeling so- I just took the NCLEX - PN, my thoughts.
Hi all, Congrats to everyone who took the boards and passed:balloons: I am taking my NCLEX-PN 08/31/07.What questions did you mostly see on the exam and what should I be focusing on as I study?- Role Call...California LVN's
:welcome: no your welcomed here. i just wanted to post info regarding an organization who needs lvn from california to join.- Role Call...California LVN's
Thanks commuter for th info. Mimi'smom, Another option is Indiana State University LVN-BSN Program through the college network. Its about $21,000 ( depending on how many pre-reqs youve taken) and its online and self study. They have a guarentee you pass and you can do the studying on your own time. They are approved through the state board of registered nursing earlier this year.Check em out. This maybe are only hope while they keep making it harder to get a rn and besides youll get a BSN from a well known prestigous university. Im starting this route Jan 08 since I just graduated. - Took Nclex today and shut off @ 85
