MSU Denver ANO 2019 Spring start
Thank you again, Advocate4Pt for taking the time to pass this along! I will definitely do the same a year from now because it's so comforting to have any information at all - especially that coming from someone who is walking the same road. I was VERY pleased to hear about the two month time period before clinical begin, in earnest. Although I understand it's no guarantee of future class schedules, but it's good to know that we'll likely receive a fair bit of classroom instruction before we're unleashed on the unsuspecting public! I'm checking my email approximately every 12 minutes to see if the school has sent out more information about the program, schedules, list of things we'll need or even a time for the orientation meeting in December...and alas nothing so far! So I'm just trying to focus on what I know right now and you've been extremely helpful for this poor girl's neurotic mind! :)

MSU Denver ANO 2019 Spring start
Hello All - just wanted to leave an update here. I did hear back from the school and they did NOT receive my signed acceptance letter! I sent it from my home email account rather than the MSU account so perhaps that is the issue. I re-sent with my school email today so hopefully there won't be a problem this time. If you haven't heard, I might suggest following up with them - I'm sure glad that I did! Remember that they are due by 5 pm (Mountain) on November 1st!

Congratulations to you, too! I am planning to work. I'm a clinical nutritionist and only see clients a couple days a week right now but I'll slow that down to a trickle once school begins. And if things get too busy, I am prepared to quit. I have done a bit of research on how many people work and which programs allow/discourage/even prohibit working and have found a variety of answers. From what I can find, it appears that the shorter accelerated programs (close to 12 months) discourage work or even have you sign an agreement that you will not work during the program. When the programs are longer (like ours), I find mixed messages. Some students say that they work quite easily but that your schedule must be flexible. While others say that it's terribly busy and they had to quit working altogether. It's likely going to be a very individual decision and I'm feeling like we won't have much information for quite some time. Regarding the time for the orientation - I don't think any of the emails stated what time. More waiting!! See you soon!

Congrats!! I did NOT get a confirmation and have been stewing about it for days! Finally, I sent an email today to ask for a confirmation and got an autoresponder that she is out today. Doesn't indicate when she will be returning, either. I absolutely hate to bug them when things must be crazy, but I need to know that they received my document to accept my place in the cohort - so do you! I would write a very short email just asking for confirmation and then let us know if you got anything back. I'll do the same!

Hey Advocate4Pt, Just wanted to thank you for your very thorough and thoughtful response!! I found it instructive and helpful! Congrats on marching through the program as I'm sure you're in the throes of some hairy schoolwork right now. I did have a couple of questions and please do not feel as though you have to answer with much detail (or at all if your schedule doesn't permit) - but here they are! 1. Can you remember how many admissions points you had? As I looked through the threads, it seems to be that the cut off is definitely 12 and some of those get in while some are waitlisted. I know this forum is just a small sampling - but any info is helpful! 2. When you began this program, did you begin 12 hour clinical days on a weekly basis? There is just so little time between when the acceptance emails go out and when the classes start that those of us with jobs and children really need to be thinking about what our schedules may look like and I cannot find any information with specifics! Again - best of luck as you have the finish line in your sights!! And thanks for any light you can shed on the above!

That's outstanding - so well done on your HESI!! Congrats! I didn't realize that MSU was the only program you were looking at that required Patho. In that case - I'd definitely put it off until another time. The fact is, it sounds like you'll have plenty on your plate and should you find that you need it for future, there is always time to take it. Mine was a quick 10 week program that was all on-line and it flew by! When I spoke to the admissions person at Metro, I was 'encouraged' to come up with at least 12 points. But as you know, it completely depends on the year and the pool of applicants for that cycle so I don't want to discourage you in the slightest! Wish I had some more tangible advice to offer!

;)Hey Minaya! Do you think the HESI will give you an extra point or so? I did not study much for the HESI...however, I'm generally a pretty good test taker. I guess my advice would be to 'study'...but don't overdo it. Since you only have to take the Math and Reading Comprehension (? maybe called something else?) - make sure you understand the basis of 'ratio proportion' that they use in clinical calculations. I got a book called, "HESI: A2 Study Guide 2018 & 2019". I believe the publisher is simply: Test Prep Books. It's cherry-red on half the cover - the other half is a scrub-top blue with a stethoscope. It was plenty of information to make sure that I could remember all the math skills. Now, the more difficult piece (in my estimation) is the reading comprehension. I would go over that section several times, in whatever study guide you get/have. Find all the sample tests that you can just to gain familiarity with the types of questions they ask. The study guide should have some information on how to arrive at a particular answer for each of the different types of problems. While this information is certainly boring - it's well worth your time. Don't overthink it!! Just get it done and best of luck! Regarding Patho - I have plenty of thoughts on that, too but I won't bore you with the details unless you need them! I would probably sign up and take it just to get it over with, frankly. I assume you'll have to take it at some point anyway? Let us know how you do!!!

Just submitted my app - I'll have 12/15 with a 4.0 and 96 HESI. Unfortunately, I anticipate a rather long wait based on previous year's forums...but if I get anything back, I'll keep everyone posted!

Hi There! I am applying in just a few weeks (when Patho class is over). I'm already biting my nails and I have yet to turn in the application. I had a couple of pre-req's to complete and then I'll be ready. Good luck! -Andrea
