Pace University AGACNP - Fall 2026
Hi, So I have an update about myself... I got accepted to University of Rochester's AGACNP program. I am considering withdrawing from Pace and registering at Rochester. One of the reasons is because they take the responsibility for setting up clinical rotations. That's a big deal to me. I wish Pace did the same for their students. It would be a no-brainer for me. Although I have my own connections and can set them up, I would rather not go through that hassle. Honestly, asking attendings and even other NPs to be a preceptor can be tough because these people don't get compensation for adding so much extra work to their busy schedules. I had to remind my (extremely supportive and super willing) LOR writers multiple times per week over several weeks to submit them - in person, over text, and via email. It was overly stressful, tbh... and this was just for a simple letter. LOL. Imagine having them submit other documents, signing contracts with the school, meeting with faculty at the school, and submitting grades/evaluations. Pace is dropping the ball on this one. BUT, they are under "show cause" with CCNE, the accrediting agency. They are up for re-evaluation in 2027 I think... I do wonder if they will step up and take over clinical placements in order to remain compliant.

University of Rochester (UR) AGACNP - Fall 2026
Hi everyone! I just got accepted to University of Rochester's AGACNP program a few days ago. There was an hour-long interview conducted over Zoom. I haven't paid the deposit yet because I am already accepted and registered at another program (Pace University in NYC) and I'm trying to figure out what program to choose. If I end up choosing Rochester, then I will need to figure out how to withdraw from Pace. I don't know anyone that went to Rochester. Does anyone know any NPs or current UR AGACNP students that can speak to what the program is like? Thanks.

Gender Separation and Nursing for American Muslim Man
I am a Muslim male nurse. Bro, get real... I have no problem doing any "intimate" care or touching patients of any gender... obviously WITH CONSENT. Explain to them what you are doing, why you are doing it, and what to expect. Even for basic physical assessment and taking vital signs. Let them decide if they want you to do it or prefer a different nurse. THIS GOES FOR BOTH GENDERS, whether your patient is male or female. Just be a normal human being. You are not special just because you are Muslim and do not deserve special treatment nor accommodations just because you are Muslim. There will be many situations where female patients will prefer female nurses and that's fine, I will gladly switch assignments with a female nurse for their comfort level. No offense taken. There will be situations where male patients will prefer a male nurse and I am there to take that patient too. Either way, you need to have a chaperone of the opposite sex (same gender of your patient) for both your protection and your patient's protection, as well as for your patient's comfort. These patients are really sick and they need nurses to take care of them in their most vulnerable moments, often some of the worst days, scariest times of their life depending on what setting you are in (hospital vs outpatient). It is your job to preserve their dignity, care for them in a compassionate way, and show them empathy. It is important to communicate with them clearly. Protect their privacy and respect their values. If you truly feel uncomfortable with the idea of working with the opposite gender (basically more than 50% of the population) then you should reconsider your career goals. Bro, I mean this without any offense. There are many other good careers out there.

University of Rochester (UR) AGACNP - Fall 2026
Hey everyone! I starting this thread for those who are applying for the Fall 2026 semester. This thread is intended for the Acute Care NP Program, but anyone is welcome to join and share their journey and experiences. I have submitted my application and I'm just waiting to hear back! Haven't heard anything yet. I believe there will be an interview, but I wonder how it will be structured. Good luck everyone!

Pace University AGACNP - Fall 2026
I agree, I am grateful for all the info shared in this thread. Definitely feel more confident moving forward. Your calculations seem about right... I'm glad they make this program "work friendly". However, I am prepared to have zero social life as we progress thru every semester... that's like an expectation I've made for myself. It's going to be worth it though. Sometimes I get like 5 days off work, so I plan on using that to knock out a lot of assignments and studying if this program is asynchronous. I've been thinking obsessively about how to plan the next 3 years out and setting goals and expectations for myself, LOL.

Pace University AGACNP - Fall 2026
Thanks KSelca! Congratulations to you too! I am excited for both of you and Michelle. Yeah, I totally know what you mean! I submitted my application back in Feb and I've been waiting anxiously to hear back and then I got the acceptance email! I'm very happy about it and super excited to start. I know exactly what you mean by accepting the offer so quickly and going into it without any further info! At least you know an AGACNP who graduated from the program. Every NP I know is a FNP. At this point, I've read through the entire website a few times now. There was a webinar that I attended back in Oct 2025, but I don't remember much from it and I don't see another one scheduled for their NP programs any time soon. The only other info I have is that we take about 2 courses per semester - Fall, Spring, and Summer, so about 6 credits per semester. Clinicals start Spring 2028. Orientation in person is on Aug 13. I requested that day off from work! Haha. I have paid the deposit to secure my seat and I'm excited to start. This has been a dream of mine for several years now, honestly.

Pace University AGACNP - Fall 2026
Hi KSelca, thanks for sharing the info and insights! I also got accepted on March 12th. The funny thing is, there was no interview? I have not heard of this (this is not my first grad degree nor the first NP Program I've heard back from). Did anyone else get auto acceptance without an interview? I am happy to hear that you know an AGACNP who graduated from Pace that can speak highly of the program. There is an in-person orientation on Aug 13th. Looking forward to connecting with classmates then as well.

What can I do besides nursing?
I just realized that there are posts beyond the first page... Did you retake bio101 as a summer course? I suggest retaking it as a fall course. It's too fast paced in the summer for majority of people, in my opinion. Seek out decent professors from your college at ratemyprofessor.com and retake Bio101 in the Fall with that prof.

What can I do besides nursing?
I used to teach biology 101. If that's all you need to take, it is my opinion that you should just retake it and do what you need to do in order to get your license reinstated. General biology is very easy and elementary compared to the more indept courses you took even at an ADN level. Probably not the advice you're looking for, sorry. Another option you can do is work as a CNA or PCA (patient care associate). But as an educated nurse with ICU experience, this might seem like a huge drag for you. I'm sorry about that you're going through this with your license. Good luck
