NLN - Nursing Exam instead of class
I only found out about it through my university. They offered the exam there. Maybe check yours and see if that’s an option? I bought the two practice tests on the NLN website and used random quizlets to study. It was hard! I studied different diets that went along with the different health issues and hardly any of that stuff was on there. I thought I failed but I passed. I can’t remember exactly what was on there ? I can’t believe the NLN website isn’t more helpful.

Human Growth & Development CLEP!
It went well! I passed with room to spare. I rented the electronic REA book from the library and used the modern states website too. I tried using the instacert but hated it. If you haven’t already paid for your registration Modern States will cover the cost if you use their free web resources, unfortunately I found that out too late.

Mount St Joseph MAGELIN Fall 2019
Awesome! My undergrad GPA was pretty bad but my prerequisite GPA was great. I don’t think you’ll have an issue as long as you have good grades in the prereqs. My interview was with Dr. Glankler which was the prior director. She was transitioning back into more of a teaching roll around the time of my interview. I felt great after the interview. I had a pretty good idea that I got in just from our conversation at the end of the interview. Most of my interview was going over the program. She did ask me a few questions like why do you want to be in this program. One question was “who is your role model and why” which I blanked. I couldn’t think of one person! HAHA! I still got in ? I’m not really familiar with that area. I live about 30-40 minutes away and never have really ventured that way. Have you been to to an information session yet?

Mount St Joseph MAGELIN Fall 2019
Hi! Im starting the MAGELIN program at MSJ in May! I started the process about a year in advance before I wanted to start so my timeline may be different than yours. I applied on 5/30/18, received an email on 6/8 to schedule my interview. I interviewed on 7/31 and received my acceptance letter via email on 8/9/2018. I’m waiting to receive info about orientation and what supplies we need. Hopefully that comes soon because I am a planner and preparer! I was told by the nurses department assistant that orientation would probably the be the Thursday before classes start. I’m pretty excited but super nervous since I’ve been told it is an intense program

Thank you so much! I am very nervous/excited to get started. Do you remember when you received info about the orientation? I know it is still like 3 months away but I am a planner haha. I emailed the program director 2 weeks ago and I haven't received a response. I currently have a full time job and work a PRN as a PCA at a local hospital trying to save lots of money so I'm more financially stable when I quit my fulltime job. Do you think it is realistic to work during this program? I'm starting in May and it is the supposed to be a more compact semester since it is shorter. I hope to go part time PCA and I have to commit to work 16 hours in order to get healthcare, which isn't difficult with 12 hour shifts.

NLN - Nursing Exam instead of class
Hi!! The only thing I have left to do is take the NLN nutrition exam which is scheduled for March. Has anyone taken this exam before instead of taking the class? I’ve paid for the two practice exams and scored 56 and 59 and a 62 is required. I’m looking for study materials. The NLN nutrition site isn’t helpful, it only has practice tests to purchase. I thought it would at least give an outline like the CLEP exams but it does not. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!

Human Growth & Development CLEP!
Hi! I am scheduled to take the human growth and development CLEP soon. I have been studying the REA book/tests and trying to use the instantcert site. I do not like the instantcert study material though but I've read that many people use it ALONE and pass the exam. Does anyone have any tips? Thank you!

Hi! I am starting the MAGELIN accelerated MSN program at Mount St. Joseph in May. I am so excited but very nervous!! Has anyone been through this program and is there any advice that you have? Is there anything you wish you would've done/knew before starting class? I am trying to go in as prepared as I can. Thank you!!

I applied for May 2019. I will have all of my prereqs done by then. I thought 1.5 weeks for an interview seemed too good to be true. I was accepted into an ADN program starting this August. I really want out of my current profession because I am miserable. The ADN program will be completed in 5 semesters. I can't get anymore student loans since I have maxed them out with my bachelor's degree. So I will have to work through that ADN program. I am hoping to get an admissions decision from MSJ by August so that if I don't get in I will continue on with the ADN. I definitely prefer the MSN route though since it is a more advanced degree for almost the same timeframe and I can get graduate student loans to focus solely on my studies. This waiting game is hard LOL

Cincinnati Mount St. Joseph MAGELIN
Hi! Last week I applied to this program: MSN-MAGELIN: Master's Graduate Entry-Level into Nursing | Mount St. Joseph University It is a MSN program for people with non-nursing degrees. I am wondering if anyone has applied to this program recently and how long it took to receive a decision. They have rolling admission. I was told by one person that started two years ago MSJ called to schedule an interview after about 1.5 weeks after submitting the application. Thanks!
