  1. I wish I knew what to tell you. I am kind of in the same situation. I have 1 in school and a 2-year-old. My husband works out of town Monday-Thursday. My classes start at 8 A.M and it is a 40-minute drive for me. I have no idea how I'm going to get my daughter to and from school or what I'll do with my youngest. I guess he could go to daycare(i hate that idea lol) and then I'd just have to figure out my daughter but I am stumped.
  2. Does anyone know how clepping out of classes usually works with competitive selection? We just moved to a new state so I am looking at a couple of schools(one offers CLEP exams but I am not certain it is accepted by the nursing program)The community college I went to before didn't offer CLEP testing and I had no idea it was a thing.. Did anyone take CLEP exams to bypass classes?
  3. Thanks! I only have one remedial math before college algebra. I will definitely be getting a tutor during both of my courses. I appreciate your input/suggestions :)
  4. I have dropped remedial algebra twice. I was honestly lazy and undisciplined the first time. The second time I had a newborn (preemie) and was emotionally drained. I don't want to make excuses for it really. It's my fault but I can't change that now. I am just wondering if this will show on my transcript once I complete college algebra. I am currently taking a break from school to try and get myself together before plunging back into this. I have done all other prerequisites (besides anatomy) I just LOATHE math. It is my dream to be a nurse. Will this affect my chances of getting into nursing school if I get through it next semester and then bust my tail in college algebra?
  5. Thanks!
  6. It's another type of pre entrance exam some nursing schools use.
  7. They are fine( my daughter is 6 and my son is almost 2) I have 2 classes to take next semester and I plan to apply for fall 2018. There are a couple of schools I will be applying to, they all accept pax ..which I haven't even taken yet.
  8. I'm glad you liked it!! I'm really looking forward to helping in the NICU(I have 2 preemies and as cliche as it sounds NICU is where my heart is..) and the whole reason I want to be a nurse. :) I am still taking prerequisites, are you in nursing school?
  9. I go this week for volunteer training and then I'll have my first day as a nicu volunteer next weekend. í ½í¸ I've read they use patient care assistants in some NICUs. I'm not actually sure what qualifys someone to be a pca? I've heard PCA and CNA used interchangeabley but I'm really not sure.
  10. does anyone have a specialty or specific reason they are drawn to/ are pursuing nursing? I love reading this forum but sometimes it gets very repetitive with all the questions about gpa and prerequisites. I'd love to find "community" here, if you will. Where are all you active allnurses members at on your educational journey?
  11. thanks for the responses! :)
  12. I am 28, admittedly a late bloomer, and a stay at home mom(my kids are 6 and 1) :)
  13. I was looking to be inspired and I certainly found it here! Enjoyed reading through all the comments. God is good all the time! :)
  14. Hi all. I will be volunteering in the NICU as a cuddler, this is a level lll NICU. I'm a stay at home mom with little job experience but I am also a full time student who is pursuing nursing(I'm still taking prerequisites at this point..I'm almost finished with those) It is my dream to be a NICU nurse both of my children were preemies and had short stays in the NICU. I'd like to make a good impression and hopefully gain a valuable reference..can you offer any tips or advice? Will this make a difference on my resume in the future? Thanks.
