  1. @dmg84 yeah definitely! thank you ?
  2. Congrats everyone, and crossing my fingers for those still waiting to hear, I got an offer for the NICU today. I made a facebook group for the cohort: https://www.facebook.com/groups/448133399760116/
  3. @newnurse_123 one more question sorry, did your status change online at all? ?
  4. @newnurse_123 congrats that's amazing! for Feb or April cohort? May I ask if it was via email or a phone call and from HR or the unit?
  5. I interviewed for the NICU, they said I would hear around Jan 22nd.
  6. I had an interview on Friday and got an email on Monday for a reference check.
  7. If you are interested in multiple units, I would definitely express that in a cover letter, if for some reason the unit you precepted on isn't hiring, you can still get interviews on different units!
  8. @Whitney E Turn everything in with one PDF under the resume section and leave the cover letter upload option blank.
  9. Patient care services is referring to basically every other unit in the hospital, they don't specify every unit hiring, hope that helps :)
  10. yeah definitely, everything but the tuition are estimates for cost of living in sacramento, so deduct things that are not relevant to you!
  11. Those numbers are very accurate ?
  12. We had an online zoom session with the director and incoming students (I'm a current student), join the facebook group UC Davis MEPN Cohort 5 for more information! We will be happy to answer all of your questions.
  13. Class of 2020 is the graduation year (the current cohort that I am in) not the year of entry
  14. They are doing their best to put my cohort online which is an incredible amount of work while trying to start the admissions for the new cohort. Be patient, also even as students we cannot help directly with COVID in any way, leave it to the experts, you can help by educating your community about social distancing and washing their hands and protecting those at risk. I hope they update you soon about your status but please be patient and understand we are all trying to navigate this unprecedented time together ?
  15. @Kp5 I chose Davis because of it's mission statement (leadership, serving underserved populations, etc.) reputation, location, and how I felt when I visited the campus. I visited and applied to USD, UCLA and University of Arizona. I have really enjoyed the program so far, it's a perfect fit for me and my goals! Every school has a different culture and values it's important to chose what resonates with you best.
  16. There is a welcoming ceremony you can invite 2 guests, MEPN’s do not get white coats. Then pinning at the end!
  17. Congrats everyone! If accepted, please join this facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/455742878661989/?ref=share
  18. @NurseAndi2022 They don't recommend working because the program is truly full time, so a 4 unit class you have 4 hours of class and 8 hour of homework. The first quarter we spent on campus 8-5 monday through friday. However, people find a way to make it work in evenings or weekends. If you have an extremely flexible work schedule you could manage to work 1-2 days a week but you will definitely sacrifice time to study, sleep or care for yourself. I found the first quarter really intense (7 classes) and had no idea how people were working. Some people quit their jobs the first week because of it. After the first quarter I felt better about my time and became a nanny because it's flexible and I can study during parts of it but its only a few hours a week. Let me know if you have any more questions!
  19. @Anthony Ensah In the past Davis has given accepted students ~$10,000 scholarship. No idea what it will be for this new cohort. If you are set on Davis, then find a way to keep the door open for Davis. I would find out when tuition is due for USF to see how long you can wait it out, definitely attend the first few days to get a feel for it just in case. Maybe they are lenient on the first tuition payment (Davis was) or maybe the late fee is small and you can buy yourself more time. If you get into Davis, you can leave USF and they will likely take a student off of their waitlist especially in the first two weeks of the program. Hope that helps, sorry you don't have an answer yet, I understand how stressful that is, crossing my fingers for you all!
  20. USF is significantly more expensive and has had recent staffing issues with faculty (from my friends report). Davis has only had 3 cohorts take the NCLEX, so although the rate is low it is due to it being a newer program (less than 50 have taken it so far, the 3rd cohort is about to take it which will give us 48 more results) and they are working significantly hard to improve it! We have a lot of NCLEX style work and I feel prepared. If anyone wants to talk about deciding on a school let me know, I chose Davis at the last second and have not regretted it once! ?
  21. Good luck everyone ? please let me know if you have any questions. As soon as you get your acceptance join this facebook group for your cohort https://www.facebook.com/groups/455742878661989/ . hopefully that link works!
  22. @hockeystic I personally did not change my original statement to include specific faculty (usually PhD programs require a specific mentor and the grad app is for all graduate programs so that is why it's included) but if you feel inclined the nursing faculty have bios on the website. Hope that helps!
  23. @livewellmm I repeated the nursing CAS experiences on my CV and tailored it to be about graduate education (more emphasis on research/academic accomplishments, leadership). They will not likely read the NursingCAS essay, just the two statements that you submit on the grad app. That is why you can reuse your personal statement. I changed a paragraph in mine but I don't think it's necessary.
  24. Mine was very personal to my life and experiences as they should be. My tip is to look at their values and mission statement and think about what diversity means to you and your career. This is not required for the nursing school. If you read the packet of instructions for the second round application it will explain this is for other graduate programs.
  25. They don't release how many are in the 2nd round unfortunately. It seems it's significantly narrowed down from the first pool of applicants. They don't release that kind of information unfortunately!
