I can say it changed after I got the invite for the video interview. Tho I'm applying for the periop for NSUH

So far I got the on demand video interview yesterday from the recruiter and status change to under consideration on application.

I emailed the northwell fellowship team and they said they are currently reviewing the applications for the periop June fellowship. So if you match their qualifications you should be hearing out from them.

soo basically I've started on my first nursing job on a medicine/ tele unit for 1 year and 3 months now. Honestly it was a lil rough at first like anyone else starting off new but I pretty much got the flow of things 6-8 months in. However right now I'm lowkey kinda just over my floor. The people I work with are great but just more often dealing with 5-6 pts. I've been better with time management but I feel like I'm just rushing through trying to get by the shift rather than doing nursing care which kinds sucks since it can be hard to build rapport with pts. There's a Cardio surgical ICU position open up at my hospital that I applied for. I'm supposed to talk to a recruiter soon and I noticed my application is under review with the hiring manager. I lowkey doubt I'll get it. But if I do I'm wondering if im jumping too soon? Cause there are days I feel like I still don't know what I'm doing when something new happens making me feel incompetent. And ironically enough I'm like the top 4 senior nurse as the rest are new grads so I'm often in charge with an assignment if there's no night ANM and end up calling elsewhere for guidance if truly needed. I really do love cardio in general and want to work outpatient cardiology office. However I was told with critical care experience can also be a good thing to have on my back too. Essentially I'm just guessing myself and wondering if I should still do another year or so before venturing out for more opportunities? Or just take the offer now rather than just waiting around (sorry for rambling I can never get to the point LMAO)

Hey! So I'm about to make a year in December from my first nursing job in tele/medicine. I've been interested in doing ambulatory care nursing at an outpatient office still connected to my hospital system. They just opened up a position recently. I did apply tho I'm not sure if I even qualify yet. Anyone with any similar experience/ advice about this?

Thank you!! I heard back from my recruiter rather quickly. I interviewed on a Friday and they called me the next Monday saying the nurse manager wanted to move forward with me. The interview was great overall! The typical interview questions (tell me about yourself, a time you made a mistake, why do you want to be a nurse, how you have dealt with difficult situations, where you see yourself in five years,etc. ) They as well gave me an overview of what the unit is like and what to expect the first few weeks of orientation. Also a couple questions about a medical diagnosis (ex:heart failure) and what labs I would look for/medications I would anticipate to give.

I’m not sure how much it varies! I was offered base 97K, 99K with differential.

An update from my end, I received an offer for NYU Long Island for a Telemetry unit! I applied internally since I also work as a student extern in the Manhattan campus

Hello! I'm wondering if anyone had applied to Mount Sinai South Nassau (Oceanside) RN Residency Program? Recently or even years before? I will graduate this upcoming May 2022 so I'm not 100% sure if I am too early to be applying. However I see in the description they want you to pass the NCLEX and submit your license by September 1st so I guess it's fine!

Hi everyone! I’m currently a 2nd semester nursing student in Med surg 1. Like many other Due to COVID my hospital experience/real patient experience has been very limited. Thankfully my school has allowed us to use mannequins and participate in a couple simulation labs. I’ve been applying to nursing externships for the Summer however I don’t know if I’ll be adequate enough for the job. Most patient interactions I had I felt flustered and blank out. For anyone who has done them in the past can you give me some tips or insight?

I feel the same way! I’m in Med-Surg 1 this semester. Our clinicals got split in half in person and half virtual. My group is supposed to be going to the hospital from 1/31 through 3-7. But already missed two clinicals because of issues with COVID and weather in NY. Regardless I’m still trying to find a some kind of job for the Summer or internship to hopefully give me some more exposure!

I go to Adelphi University. As of now they haven’t exactly given us the clear yet, but that is the plan. We’re still waiting for approval so we can officially register for clinical by NYS guidelines.

Hi guys, thank you for our responses. I’m still quite unsure what to do, but I got a C in the class. That doesn’t cut it because i needed a C+ ? I have to break the news to my parents soon and I know they’ll be pretty upset. The least I can do now is try to retake this course this or next summer in 2020. I do want to ask, would it be a bad idea to wait until next year to retake a summer class?

It looks like my freshman year has been pretty much a failure at this point for my first year in nursing school. I nearly passed A&P 1 with a C+. However with A&P2, i've just finished my final and looks like i'm at the D+ to C range instead. These sciences has never been my strong suit and am just wondering should I change my major at this point?? My mom is the one who really wanted me to major in nursing given she's a nurse herself so I feel bad for failing the class and wasting her money. I feel pretty lost right now not knowing what to do next at this point. Would it be wise to try and change majors now or try continue to pursue this degree?

Yeah I am aware of that! Although I can be outgoing at times I tend to have traits of more of an introvert since I do like to spend time with myself more often. I've been pretty shy pretty much since middle school too.

Also anyone who attended this school/ attending for nursing if you can talk about your experiences that'd be cool
