  1. Yes, I have had problems with my signiciant others mostly because I pick partners that aren not availble on level or another. Other are work relationships, there is always one person that I have trouble with. I just started a great job and the nurse that was suppose to be orienting me went off on me. My boss was supportive and said nurses eat their young/new alive, sad but true. My boss took me off the assignment with her. I do have dsylexia as well but I don't know why she got ****** at me. She would say "J-----, I just told you that." I'd like to know if other nurses have had trouble with nurses orienting them to a new job?
  2. Hi,That's a great idea and wish you all the presence of mind. Does any one know why we loss some much stuff. If there is anyone out there that can relate to this topic and has some suggestions I would appreciate it alot.
  3. Hi Can anyone give me the hourly rate for HH or rate per visit? How many hours are spent after you get home on paper/computer work? Thanks
  4. Yes HenayneiLLNC Please send me what I should look for in the yellow pages or what? You can send me a private note or whatever. Thanks, BB
  5. Does anyone know the type of nursing where you screen the person in their home to see if they qualify for health insurance?
  6. I too had a preceptor from Hell. She was burned out, wanted to go part time, and in charge and she did not need to be a preceptor. I would keep up your license and ceu in case you want to go back. Also you need to know that if you stay away from acute care and want to go back after 3 years, most state will require you to take an RN refresher course which cost me about $5,000, tag,tax and title(Gas, car etc)
  7. I certainly can. Having ADHD and dyslexia and going thru menopause is not working for me so unless I can do nursing that does not involve giving medications; I will try doing doggie day care. If anyone knows the official name of the nursing consulting job over the phone please let me know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. I can relate to piling things up at the front door and mutli tasking at home but when it comes to giving medications I miss some. Have you got ways that you use when you give meds at work so you wont make a mistake. I am going thru menopause and its a know fact that adhd meds don't work as well when you in menopause. I've really decided to quite nursing. It is a huge loose to give up my lively hood but I can't go on making med errors. I also have dyslexia so that is a determential factor as well. Thanks for any suggestions or how you do it.
  9. I've decided to give up nursing because it seems like no matter what I do I make medication errors. Even though I went back and took the RN refresher course and passed the MEDICAL/SURGICAL certification (with special accommadation is why) I just don't want to hurt anyone.
  10. Thanks for your reply. I had an interview at a SNF and would be unit manager doing in MDS and an occasional 16 hour shift giving meds and tx. which scares me. I also gave an interview at a jail so we will see. i don't have alot of confidence at this point. Thanks again for your reply.
  11. I was fired from my 3rd job yesterday. I wanted to die but I promised my friends I would keep trying. I feel I was set up,I'm in my late 50's and I can't go as fast as these young nurses. I was trying to give medications and do tx.for the first time in this assisted living facilite and I made some medication errors. The Lpn that was following me didn't like me. I just can't seem to see all the medications listed on the MAR. The woman who fired me said you being an RN , you should not be making medication errors. I will try to get a job in nursing that does not involve giving medications. If that doesn't work I am going to quit nursing.
  12. I can relate to all the dissatisfaction with meds but I find my pharmarist is such a helpful resourse. I can tell you my experience and I have read this in many books: Menapause makes it worse. I can not keep my house straighten around especially my kitchen table. And I hate having to take sleeping meds. I feel like I'm losing it slowly. What does help is 8 hours of sleep, lots of protein, mainly eggs in the AM and no caffeine.:monkeydance:
  13. Where is your patience, what if that was you Mom or Aunt, memory problems start around age 50 and not everyone is medically oriented or organized.
  14. In the day health I worked in it was alot of politics, if the nurses happened to be friends then they would not fill out an incident report. As far as the supervisor she did not come up with any solutions for errors, except one solution. I had to try and figure it out myself. There were alot of med errors because our system was very dangerous and it wasn't working. I'd like to hear more about answers to your questions because I was the one fired.
