  1. I like to fold my patients SBARS in half, and write on the back of them. I’ll divide the paper into 12 blocks with times at the tops and medications at which time, important lab values, vitals, their Dr’s name, pt name and room, if they’re ACHS, full code/DNR, any collections/tasks I have to do, and a defining trait to help me remember who they are (I.e. heparin drip, peg tube, AMS) because I’ll be honest, I don’t know any of my patients first thing in the morning. And I write all this in different ink. I really like the multi-ink pens. Saves from having 14 pens in your pockets when I get morning report, I write down all that stuff on the front so I can just flip my paper down and look it over.
  2. I can honestly sympathize too! I’m a new grad, been on my own for over a month now, and it wasn’t until a week and a half ago did I experience my first ever panic attack. While sitting down. Charting. LOL, of all the times of the day it could’ve happened (in hindsight I’m thankful it happened when nothing pressing was occurring) I also work in a medsurg floor-turned covid. And because it’s the hospitals “covid” unit, ICU transfers with covid don’t go to the step down unit, they transfer to the medsurg floor. So the acuity is high. honestly the only thing that helped me was walking around the floor, deep breathing, and thinking to myself that it will pass (although I thought I was having a heart attack and truthfully didn’t know if it would).
  3. I bought yourbestgrade, took my exit HESI and scored a 1101- the questions are very difficult and similar in terms of questions on the HESI. The HESI is worded to make you think and read too much into the question and find “clues” and hints and whatnot to pick the best answer. now I bought UWorld for the NCLEX and using your best grade has actually helped me answer questions on UWorld, to where I think it’s either a lot easier (or just easier to understand) because it’s much more forward. Half of my class bought yourbestgrade, the other half bought UWorld and we all scored above the 900 benchmark. So either one imo would be fine for the exit.
  4. I’m in my senior semester of nursing school, and we’ve switched to online everything. Even our practicum is now online. I go to school in the panhandle of Florida
  5. Not sure if this is the right place to put this, but I’m currently in my last semester of nursing school and since I’ve been working at an autism center part time for the past year, I Really want to go into pediatric mental health or pediatric psychiatric nursing. I’ve tried googling the pathways to become this but it seems like it would take 7 years to be certified in both areas (pediatric & psychiatric)? If there is anyone in this field or someone who knows someone in this field, could you point me In the direction y’all took, to be able to pursue this? many thanks in advance
  6. I just seen it and am hoping to get the WIOA grant to help with the costs, cause its pretty hefty lol
  7. Did anyone sign up for Tuesday Clinicals?
  8. I got accepted! Who else??
  9. Straight RN for me, and my points were correct. 110- hope I know on Friday the 13th, if it'll be enough.
  10. An email was sent out about point verifications happening sometime hopefully next week!!
  11. I just checked last year's forum, and no one found out until the 28th... of April. Lol. But the initial email from the nursing department said they're trying put a new system so ... there's still 2 days left in march?!? *trying to look on the bright side*
  12. I check about 3-4 times a day lol. Agreed, the waiting game is awful
  13. Wow, and here I am 8 years later still working on my AA lol. Thats great tho, biology and chemistry is no joke!! And guys, I just checked my email, the nursing director sent us all one that they're reviewing points and we should know by the end of this month!!!
  14. Yes, I'll only have the nursing courses to take (plus microbiology) I finished all the other courses online, after I had my daughter, but she'll be old enough for daycare if I get accepted this fall, hoping. And a bachelor's, that's great! In what, may I ask?
  15. What!? You haven't taken AP yet but scored a 96? That's amazing!! I really hope we hear back this month, I'd like to finish my AA degree this summer, then start nursing.
