  1. I graduated in December 2007 in New Jersey and moved to North Carolina almost immediately after graduation. I had a job waiting for me there. I did some internet research, sent out some resumes and set up several interview for a 3-4 day trip that I took down before graduating. I personally would recommend going straight to the state you want to work. You will need to figure out what is needed for the Licensing for Texas, etc. I just think it would be more trouble than it's worth to go through getting licesned in MN, then a few months later doing it all over again in another state. Not to mention the extra costs and time it will take to get the license. Get letters of recemmendation for clinical instructors as early as possible, before school ends so you can use them with your resume. Good luck!
  2. What is the nurse patient ratio on your floor? I am a new grad getting ready to go off orientation, and am struggling a bit getting my time management together. I work nights and on average we have 6 patients, but we have 7 at times, and Im told even 8 on rare instances. I have had 6 before but didnt do well with it, but can manage 5 no problem. Just wondering what everyone else is going through. Im a bit excited about being on my own (mainly because my orientation schedule blew.) But at the same time, I am freaking out! Can I really do this on my own????? I am still staying awake thinking about what I did (or didn't do). and stressing way to much over every little thing. But I know I take good care of my patients. I knew this job would be stressful, but this is ridiculous!
  3. I passed! What a long 2 days it has been!
  4. OK, I passed! I can't believe that I still passed with 210 questions. I just proves that it doesnt matter how many ?s you get. I am an RN! YAY!!
  5. Well, I took mine today. I am still in a bit of a daze. I ended up getting about 210 questions. I was never really one to have test anxiety. But this time was different. I serioulsy felt like I was going to pass out! So going into the test feeling like that was probably not a good thing. I tried to relax, did some deep breaths, etc. By about question 100 I was resigned to the fact that I was going to get all 265 questions, so when it stopped at 210 or somewhere around there I was actually surprised. Needless to say I have NO IDEA how I did. Most of my friends got 75 ?s and passed so far, so that added to my anxiety level I am sure. Honestly I am 50/50 about it as far as pass - fail goes. Of course if I fail, I will be the first and only person from my class so far to fail as far as I know. YAY for me the big loser! Anyway, I guess I will have to wait and see. Luckily it is a weekend and I will have plenty to do to occupy my time. Crossing my fingers that the results are posted by Sunday.
  6. Thanks everyone for the well wishes. I will let you all know how I do. I'm sure I will pass (Positive thinking).
  7. I test on Feb 1st. Im really starting to freak out. I have steadily been doing about 300-400 questions a day, but still dont feel as though I am prepared. I just have to go for it and hope for the best I suppose.
  8. Hi I'm a new grad Nurse, just moved here from New Jersey. Take my boards on Feb 1st and will be working at CMC Main in Charlotte.
  9. Thanks for the well wishes. I am finally motivated to study. I am in full on study mode. Take the NCLEX on Feb 1st and start at CMC on March 3rd. I am looking forward to it. Any insight into what to expect during orientation would be appreciated. Is it a full week of hospital based orientation, then on to the unit or what? I will let y'all ( hows the accent ) know how I do on the NCLEX.
  10. Did you pay your money to Pearson Vue? The BON will send the info on to Pearson Vue and they issue the ATT. Also, mine came in my junk email inbox and almost got deleted. You might want to check that. Good luck getting a Jan test date, that seems unlikely as it is already the 22nd. I got my ATT 2 weeks ago and still couldnt get a Jan date, but you may get lucky, especially if you are willing to travel a bit further away. Anyway, good luck and if you dont get it soon, I would call the BON and make sure they got all the info they needed, as well as Pearson Vue.
  11. I still have a couple of weeks before I take the NCLEX, (actually its like 12 days to be exact) but I am really starting to get nervous about it. A few of my friends have already taken it (and passed) but they said how hard it was and that they felt like no type of review course really prepared them for the questions. They also have great study skills, and I do sometimes. Also, all 3 of them got 75 questions when the computer shut off. I just feel like I have this added pressure to get 75 questions, or somehow I am not as good as them. I know it sounds stupid, but I kind of feel that way. Although, as long as I pass I will get over it quickly Im sure. Just feeling some anxiety I guess.
  12. I test Feb 1st, couldn't get a Jan test date. I hope I have positive restults like the others on the board. I am just having trouble motivating myself to study. This being home all day stuff was kind of fun for a week or 2, especially around the holidays, but now I am having trouble getting out of bed. I have 2 weeks to go , so its time to buckle down. Wish me luck!
  13. I can't seem to get motivated either. Most of my classmates took NCLEX review courses, but with Christmas and no job right now until NCLEX, the money wasnt there for it. Plus it's an awful lot of money to learn strategies, which were pretty much drilled into our heads I thought in nursing school. I dont take my test until Feb 1st, so I still have time, and everyday I tell my self Im going to study for at least 2-3 hrs, I always find something else to do (or not do). If I dont pass, I lose my job that is waiting for me, so that should be motivation enough right....Nope, still not doing it. I am a bit of a procrastinator and a crammer, so Im hoping if I really buckle down the week or so before I should be ok. Im glad to know Im not the only one feeling this way. Good Luck I hope we all pass the NCLEX
  14. Hi everyone, I am a Graduate Nurse, waiting on my ATT. Have a job waiting for me at CMC in Downtown Charlotte working nights, Med-Surg. Yeah, I'm one of those crazy night owls. I just moved to the Charlotte area in mid December, after graduating Nursing School. I'm also a newlywed (the reason for the move). Just wanted to say hi, and meet some people in the area. If there is anyone that wants to get together to study for the NCLEX, let me know. I am having trouble motivating myself, as I am out of my element. I currently live in Mooresville, but will be moving to Cornelius by the end of the month. Would love to hear from anyone.
  15. I just read your post and it kind of freaked me out. I graduate from Nursing school in December ( I am going to school in NJ) and I am planning on moving to NC almost immediately after I graduate. Now I am thinking that I should test here in New Jersey to avoid having to go through all of that to take the test. Did anyone take a Kaplan review before taking the test? Just wondering if its really worth the money?
