I think the problem is I'm not a very assertive or confident person, so pushing back against staff is very hard for me. It is an overall very toxic environment. Staff come into the office to complain or gossip about other staff all day long. My "office" is a small cubicle within the main office. I'm just not sure if I should stick it out as there are less than 100 students and the pay is great compared to any public school positions. I also wonder if I should just hang up school nursing in general. I adore the kids, it's the adults I have a problem with!

Hi everyone, I am currently a preschool nurse at a special ED building with about 60 students. I've been a nurse about 9 years and have done school nursing in the past at an elementary school through district and another private preschool. I'm really struggling feeling anxious about being the only medical provider on site. Are there any trainings you guys can recommend to make me feel more comfortable? Also I am having a lot of issues with teachers giving me a hard time about sending kids home, always pushing for them to go home as well as an extremely irate parent that has threatened to call the state department of ED on me. I absolutely adore the kids, and truly enjoy working with them. Do I stick it out or find something else? I feel very discouraged. Thank you so much!

That’s okay but it might affect your application. I had a class outstanding and was waitlisted. I ended up coming off of it, but that was a factor

Will you be done with Microbiology before the program starts? I believe it’s required that they are all completed but you could still be in progress now. I had mostly As in the prerequisites, maybe a B in gen chem. And yes, there were dorming options when I went there. It’s probably cheaper to dorm off campus, but it’s much easier and convenient to live on campus, especially if you don’t have a car which I did not

Hi! I graduated from the BAT program in 2017. I can answer any questions you might have about it. It’s an excellent program, professors are wonderful. It’s definitely intense; be prepared to work hard, but it’s definitely doable. We had very high passing rates for the NCLEX. I studied about a month or so for it and passed in 75 questions. Let me know if you have more questions!

I'm not really sure how many people got accepted from the waitlist I'm sorry, and I don't know about gpa either. I do know though that at least a few people got accepted off the waitlist very late.....like may a few weeks before the program started

Hi everyone, I was waitlisted last year and got a call in early April asking me if I was still interested. I was taking microbiology that spring as my last prerequisite. My undergrad gpa was a 3.62 and I had no healthcare work experience, just a lot of volunteer work. I did call maybe a week before they called me asking if I wanted the spot, just to really profess my interest in the program and ask if there was anything I could currently do to enhance my chances of getting off the waitlist.

I think summer is probably one of the easiest to get through because for most of it you're not juggling clinical with it. If you have any sort of bio background patho is probably not going to be too hard for you. I think the most challenging part of the whole program isn't the content itself but the amount you have to deal with at once. Time management is really key. Some days are very long on the summer session like 8-6:30 i believe so be prepared for that. No drug testing throughout the program but I guess that could have changed, I doubt it though.

Hi! Yes the fall semester is very difficult I won't sugarcoat it. I don't really think you can prepare too much for the summer....maybe brush up on some a+p because you will have patho exams once a week. In terms of general advice definitely be proactive in trying things out in clinical because it's really what you make of it. Be ready to write some long papers in the fall, possibly more than one at the same time. It's really all about managing your time well.
