  1. Sorry...a member of management called and said employee +....DON said not safe
  2. I am a ltc alzheimers nurse, 48 residents, 12hr day shift. Husband has severe respiratory issues. Got call that presumed positive covid and that they dont feel it's safe for me to ge there because of hubby and that I should resign? I asked about PPE and told they didn't have any
  3. Thank you to all of you for your kind comments. I guess I needed validation from those who know of what I speak. I have not returned to the facility and I have not heard anything from them. I am a professional and to have been forced into leaving or accept a dangerous assignment pains me, although I know I did the right thing. Its been a couple days and I feel like a big weight has been lifted, although now Im worrying about income...God works as He does..its Christmas! Peace, Love and Joy to the world
  4. Sooo been there and soooo not having it anymore. I wanted to cry reading your post. I just posted about having 72 residents and some in a locked unit. ( see abandonment) I,too care about my residents, but i also care about myself. If you dont stick up for yourself management will always try and slide by with the minimal. Safety is preached all the time and should be, but never practiced except on paper. Nursing is not nursing anymore. Its money, bodies and computers. Oh lets not forget phones!
  5. Well, I show up for work and see that I have 72 patients again, half of which are in a locked dementia unit, the rest in a split hall outside the unit. I called the DON and informed her that I was not taking keys for that many people again without help, it was dangerous and unsafe for me and the residents. I did it once before and was giving morning meds at 3pm! I felt physically sick at the thought. Three fourths of the med pass are bps with parameters, half blood sugars, etc. aside from everything else. I had clocked in and went to my car to call DON. She informed me that she was going to report me to Ohio BON for abandonment.I did not take keys or report and she told me to go home if I was not accepting the assignment, which I did. I went back in and clocked out, total of 15 minutes. Any thoughts??? Im done with nursing. Just cannot do this anymore. Never ever gets better, and never will. Im coming Walmart!
  6. I too, have 11 yrs experience and I am still overwhelmed at the workload. All I do is RUN..but almost never to the bathroom and forget about lunch. Thought 12 hrs would be better, but its not. Have a 1 yr nurse in a position of clinical supervisor and a DON who just quit and replaced with one with felony drug history. Passed meds the other day to patients (SNF) on two different halls as well as an alzhiemers locked unit totaling like 80 some patients, half bps and sugars, man actively dying on the locked unit, family wondering why there isnt a nurse there for hours(ME), and State was there investigating a patient complaint. Saw no problem! Then labs, Doctors coming in, aides on their phone, and oh yes, the admit that i never got to, wondering why the admissions nurse didnt do the admit herself?! Passed am meds at 3pm! NO ONE CARES..IM DONE
