PIH Good Samaritan New Grad
Hello! I was wondering if anyone has applied or is already an RN that has gone through the new grad program at PIH Good Samaritan. I would love to see what your thoughts are or even connect. I applied and waiting to hear back. Thanks.

Mt. Sac Nursing Program Fall 2019
Hi! Good luck on the application! I am going to start int the spring at mt sac and I do have to let you know that the application pool was smaller from what that counselors have told us. As for the points there really isn't a way to tell but which is the cut off point as it does depend on the amount of people who applied and the points that they apply with to the program. As for the the photo ID you should submit your Drivers License. I know its stressful but I did look at all the schools within a certain radius then narrowed it down that way. I know Riverside has a bigger student cohort/class as they accept more students and their point system is a bit different, also they use the TEAS test not the HESI.

Mt. Sac Nursing Spring 2019
Hi! I think you can go onto the elsevier? Website to see if they have any testing locations that offer the same subjects as Mt. Sac. If you have the time I suggest asking if there is a waitlist and if there isnt then go every day because when I went on test date there were no shows. Best of luck. Just keep calling cause circumstances happen to everyone.

Mt. Sac Nursing Spring 2019
Yea I was thinking that to but I searched on google higher term fractions and it seems like that's what they were doing. I may be wrong so if you look it up as well let me know if I explained it right. lol. As for #60 since the denominator was the number given you divide the 156 by 12 which becomes 13 and then multiply it to the 11 which is 143 /156. This is a good refresher, I feel like I forgot all my basic math skills. Hope this helps! Mt. Sac Nursing Spring 2019
Hello! I hope I can explain it but to my understanding you basically calculate what the higher numbers with the same ratio would be given the information you have...so the #59 was 3/5 = 21/d, which looking at 3 and 21 it is a multiple of 7. Using that 7 you multiply to the 5 making it 35 so it would be 21/35. Ratio is the same but higher terms. I hope this helps and I googled just in case.

Hi beegee. Do you mean transfer from one nursing program to mt. Sac's program or just another community college?
-
Mt. Sac Nursing Spring 2019
I don't think they email you back but you can always call for confirmation that they received it.

Mt. Sac Nursing Spring 2019
So from what I have figured out through the Mt.Sac website and reading previous forums is that the lectures are twice a week and clinicals are twice a week. Monday is NURS 1A from 7 to 2pm ish with breaks and NURS 2 is Pharmacology that is the same time? First half of NURS 1A/1B is going to be lighter of course, you follow CNA's versus RN's, I think. I hear there is going to be a packet for math and such that needs to be done by the first day of orientation. Can't wait to get the orientation packet.

If you go to the Mt. Sac bookstore website, you can click on the link where there are text books and select Fall 2018 and you can select the courses. I figure it is the same curriculum for all sections and semesters. I looked up Nurs 1A and 1B as well as Nurs 2? Pharmacology.

I am too. Nervous but excited. I'm already putting the book list on a list.

Mt. Sac Nursing Spring 2019
Yes. Definitely call to see where you are on the alternate list if it is not stated in the email. As for letting you know I would think it'd the first week of Dec. Accepted students have until the 26th of Nov to respond.

Mt. Sac Nursing Spring 2019
I think it depends on where you are on the alternate list. I think there are plenty of chances for you to get in as theres opportunities for people to not accept at one point or another. I say just prepare little by little. Have you applied to any other programs?

Mt. Sac Nursing Spring 2019
I don't work at the moment but I am looking for a part time. I am at a point where I need to work even if it is part time so I figure start now and work out my schedule later on. I hear mixed comments regarding working but in the end it's depending on your situation and time management skills.

Mt. Sac Nursing Spring 2019
Hi. I haven't heard anything as of yet but if they told you the 7th I hope that's the case. I am anxiously waiting and keeping my fingers crossed. I plan on giving them a call and see if I can possibly get a confirmation on the date. Will post if I get more information. :) As for my points I believe I'm in the mid 70s depending on if everything was calculated correctly.

Denied Nursing School.... Again
I don't think you should give up in regards to obtaining your goal. I think those who get denied or can't apply due to certain situations will feel like they are failing but it's a good learning process and not everyone gets in on their first try. It took me a long time to try and apply to nursing schools as well and I am now waiting for some sort of response. I did not do well earlier and relied on recency to get higher points at the schools I applied to since they were all based on point systems. I decided to look at all the schools first through the state nursing board and then start narrowing down by location depending on far I was willing to drive. Then I created an excel sheet to start looking at each schools criteria. I am not sure where you are located but maybe you can talk to counselors and see what you can do to get your gpa higher? If you are still in the same school then I would take advantage of the repeats and academic renewal for classes that apply. I didn't have the best academic history but I am happy I didn't give up. I hope you are able to get some more information from counselors and good luck!! I hope this helps.

RCC Spring 2019
Penanko, FutureRN127, Thank you for the information. I have been studying but just a mental block I guess. I am planning on taking the exam on the 9th so doing my best to not slack off. Good luck to everyone! Hopefully I will be in the 70's and that will be enough to gain entrance to the program.

RCC Spring 2019
penanko and sama34 - Thanks for the reply. Can I ask what you guys used to study for the TEAS? I have been using the mometrix book and the ati teas book. Have you guys tried taking the ati practice test? I have been studying here and there but I got burnt out from information overload so I stopped. I am planning on taking the exam in 2 weeks. Any study tips?
