  1. My application finally switched to program review yesterday. I hope we know soon! classes start in less than a month. Seems crazy to me we still don't know and would be expected to register and pay for everything so fast
  2. Hey all! I applied for the FNP program to start this fall 2025 in June. My application status states "screening in progress". My best friend applied for the same program at the same time as well and hers says "program review". Makes me a tad nervous we both have different things under the status. Also wondering when we will hear when and if we got in since its almost August

  4. Im in the research triangle so I am surrounded by many great hospitals; Duke, UNC, WakeMed. When ever I look at job postings I see Neonatal NP jobs and have seen 2 jobs for pediatric NP's at the hospitals here. Most PNP jobs are in clinics which I do not want to do I enjoy the hospital setting. It just makes me wonder if I should do the neonatal route and switch to NICU since that is where the demand is
  5. Hi guys! I am currently a nurse on pediatric BMT floor. I have done pediatric homecare as an LPN and did a little bit of the peds OR. You can say peds is my thing. I started my interest in nursing volunteering on the mother baby floor and was able to help in NICU. NICU made me fall in love with nursing and where I thought I would end up. It is hard to get into NICU so I have been working in peds which I adore just as much. This Spring will be my last semester in my RN-BSN program and will be doing my senior project in a level IV NICU in a Level 1 trauma center, major teaching hospital. I feel this is great because it will help me determine if NICU is where I truly want to end up or if Peds is where I am meant to stay. My job will cover up to 90% of my tuition if I do grad school through them. Right now I see myself going Acute Care Pediatric NP as I really want to stay in the hospital setting. I have noticed there are not many peds NP's in this hospital or in surrounding hospitals in my area. Peds NP jobs appear to only be in private practices which I have no desire to do. I do however see more job postings for Neonatal NP which was my original plan all along. I am from New York and see NY has more pediatric NP opportunity in the hospitals verses here in North Carolina. Realistically, I don't plan on applying to NP school for at least 5 years. I want to be a very well seasoned nurse before taking on an NP role. However the lack of pediatric NP jobs has me wondering if I should make the switch to NICU down the line as that seems to have more opportunity at the moment. Any input or insight would be great!
  6. hi all! this past July I began in the pedatric operating room. I was a gymnast growing up and am no stranger to surgery. my dream is to work with kids so I snagged the job with no hesistation. two months in I am pretty miserable. I came to terms real quick I am not an operating room nurse. I feel like being new and young; I am still a sponge and have so much to learn and I feel like the OR hinders my learning. I miss learning about mediactions, performing nursing skills. I also know my long term goal is either peds ICU or peds CICU and then eventually acute pedatric NP as my job will cover 90% of the tutition if I go to school with them (but that is many years down the line). I applied for a bunch of internal positions and landed an interview with the Pedatric Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. I have been doing some research on this type of unit and nursing and am growing excited. I really want to land this job! I was wondering if any nurses who have worked this speciality before can give me some insight on what to expect and what my job duties will consist of. I want to sound educated on my interview. prior to doing this OR job I was an LPN for 3 years and now have 1 year RN experience. I did skilled nursing and pediatric homecare. I was wondering how I can use my previous experiences to make myself as marketable as possible Thank You!

  8. They offer a 1 year route and 2 year route. They will tell you the 1 year route is very overwhelming and you will not work. Its classes Summer, fall, Winter, Spring. Due to NY being so BSN driven I do recommend the 1 year option if you have the time to sit and do school work. I am in the 2 year option and regret not doing the 1 year. I still am young and live at home so I could of done it. I am enjoying the program and have learned alot even with it being online. This May I will be done with my first year
  9. Let me know where everyone is looking to live. Being in New York right now during this pandemic means I cannot really go down to NC to look for an apartment. I am stuck with what looks nice in pictures and facetime tours. Let me know what areas are good!
  10. I'm from Long Island. So I did their "New to the OR Event". It was like a hiring event with all the different OR specialites and about 30 candidates looking to work at Duke. The event was so cool meeting with different nurse managers. They got back to us to two weeks after the interview. I found out last week and accepted the postion over the phone. I am now waiting for an email with the offer and how to proceed next. I'm so scared I am not going to get this email even though I accepted LOL. I just want to sign on a dotted line and make it offical so I can really celebrate
  11. I interviewed at Duke this past Febuary and was offered a postion. I am coming from New York and am so excited and scared. I start in July. I am going to be in the Pediatric OR. I am sooo overwhelmed LOL but in a good way
  12. Hello, I am currently in my last semester of my LPN- RN degree at Suffolk. I just applied to Stony Brooks RN- BSN program to start this summer session. I was just wondering when I should hear anything from Stony Brook and if anyone else has gone this route too and what it was like. Thank You!
