Why does only nursing have to put the patients first?
It's called accountability..Every unit has to speak up and streamline what other Disciplines are Supposed to be doing! Call them on it. Of course we care/look after our patients but we can't be the only ones. We all ultimitely have to do our jobs.

Reccomend a gender neutral title to replace "Nurse"!
I think you are the one having a problem with the title Nurse..I would wonder why?

Finding myself negative these days. Can my expectations be too high?
I REALLY hear you on this...I work on a Unit that has the same nonchalance! There are those that know/expect that you will pick up the slack or jump in when things are critical. You can't turn a blind eye when another nurses' pt goes sour..you need to help. But some are scared of the critical pts..so therefore you are always the one. But how do you make some be accountable?! I don't care if I take a little longer assessing on my first round..i just think..How can someone feel good about a poor assessment? I think you have to hold your head high and be the best Nurse you can be..learn as much as you can..and help other's be accountable in a non-confrontational way.

Finding myself negative these days. Can my expectations be too high?
I have been tossing/turning about this very topic..ready to quit. I am on a med/Surg unit that is basically a step down unit to ICU. I have been torn about how to reach these staff that do the minimal and don't seem interested in really knowing what is going on with their pts. Only interest is getting charting done and getting back to desk." Ignorance is Bliss" seems to be their motto. They know that others will pick up the slack because we care. And we will. It's frustrating. Is it worth having good Nursing work ethic anymore. I am stressed and they are not. Just saying...

Causes of chronic nausea?
I know that when my son was about 8yrs old..he was always bent over with abd pain before school and at night when he went to bed. Took him to DR because son was not the type to fake it/complain. he said it was very real. He had a teacher that was intimidating the kids..His bowels were "in knots". Bentylol really helped along with adressing the issue of the teacher. Other parents also reported their kids with stress symptoms. Just a thought. I know that vertigo can cause nausea..stemetil seems to be the only med that helped us(unrelated to first situation) Good luck.

This is Too weird...
I wonder why people are soo afraid of taking someone aside and just asking? With care. I think our job is too risky to let things like that slide. People react to kindness. That you will call..no matter what. People don't have to lie..if you don't make them.

What is " chart review?"
Who would go through Nursing school and want to do just "chart review"..That scares me..Why would you go through Nursing at all!

HELP!! Ostomy problems
I might revert to a wound manager draining to a foley cath bag for times of ++diahrea..you can use a convex seal. I might try something like maalox to the excoriated peri-stoma skin. Just a thought.

Shocked At Nurses Actions Tonight
I just can't believe there is a debate about this at all. I can't imagine someone wanting to be a nurse with prejudice like that. It is embarassing to our profession..it is embarassing as a person for people to behave this way. When we get a patient who is a prisoner(shackled, guards)we are not told what his crime is...I am glad because I don't have time to judge him..not that I would. He came in with his illness not his crime, religion, race or sexual preference. JMO

Morgellon's Disease
What a coincidece! I just finished reading the book"Bloodstream" by Tess Gerritson. Deals with very similar symptons. Flourescent "bugs",psychosis and maybe something to do with floodwaters...don't want to give it all away..but very interesting similarities.
