  1. @oceanhugger I would definitely contact the senior nurse recruiter. She was in charge of sending those! HR would be able to connect you to her if you can't get through directly.
  2. @newgradhopeful They told me their goal was April 30th but it would likely by May 7th. I have July as my preference but told them I would be happy to be involved in any way possible. The wait is tough!
  3. @newgradhopeful I'm keeping my fingers crossed to hear this week. Did you request July or October for PICU?
  4. @newgradhopeful I received mine after my interview. But I know every unit does that differently as well. I think every unit works on very different timelines, I haven't heard of anyone else getting offers just yet, but definitely keeping my fingers crossed for good news!
  5. @newgradhopeful I have filled out the reference request for PICU but have not heard anything since then. Have you heard anything more?
  6. Did anyone interview with PICU? If so, did you receive your reference request?
  7. @brittpowell29 From what I understand, your application gets sent to both picks ? NICU experience is definitely still relevant to PICU, so don't lose hope!!
  8. Hi all, I applied to PICU and just scheduled an interview. This was via phone call, not email!
  9. Hi!! I'm sorry I don't have much advice. But, I applied to this as well. Can I ask when they called you for an interview? And if you are internal/external and graduated? Just trying to gauge why I didn't land an interview ? From what I do know, it's a panel interview but the number of panel members may vary. I think you will be the only one in the interview and I think it's mostly behavioral questions!
  10. I just spoke with someone and received the same information. They will email us whether we are selected to move forward or not, so at least we will know either way. Last time I spoke with someone it was different info, so hopefully, we learn more soon ?
  11. Ah, the wait has been killing me!! Thank you so much for the reply ? I've heard the surgical unit has an awesome team, you'll do great!!
  12. Congrats!! That's so exciting!! I have not heard anything yet. Did they update your submission portal at all?
  13. I am! Thank you for starting this thread. Good luck to everyone ?
  14. Thank you so much for sharing this! I will be applying for the Summer as well ?
  15. @hollidc Oh that's awesome! I've had classmates rotate through their ED and they loved it, but I definitely still understand what it's like to hope to hear from other units. I hope it works out, it's hard not to love San Diego ?
  16. that's amazing!! If you don't mind me asking, what was the edtc position? I haven't heard of that. I've been applying to PCA positions and transport positions since Septemer, I'm at 8 applications so far and they probably think I'm a crazy person! I would have loved to get more experience because I am applying to their new grad RN program this summer.
  17. Thank you so much for sending me an update! I unfortunately never heard back, I must not have made the cut. ? Best of luck moving forward, I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you!
  18. Congrats!! That's amazing, best of luck. I'll be applying for the Summer round, I would love any advice you may have...I'll be sending positive energy your way!
  19. Hello! I was wondering if anyone had any advice regarding employment at Rady Children's Hospital. I have been applying to various per diem jobs for a few months now and I haven't moved past the "submitted" stage on my portal. No calls or interviews, unfortunately. I am a nursing student in my final semester and I have been trying to get a Patient Care Assistant job (or any per diem job) to get my foot in the door and gain some additional experience as I am hoping to get into their New Graduate RN residency program after graduation. I was hoping to hear from others' experience with this Children's Hospital. Is there anything I can do to increase my chances of getting at least a call back/ interview? Thank you in advance!
  20. We do have a new Director of Nursing, she came in during 2017 and I believe she is the best thing that could have happened to this program. She has been advocating to slash a lot of the busy work/unnecessary assignments that are currently a part of the curriculum. Of course, the changes will take time because multiple people have to be on board, but she is an amazing woman who is very involved and truly wants the best for the students. As for the ADN/BSN route, it depends on how flexible you are willing to be post-graduation. You will definitely find work at a SNF and you will find work if you are willing to relocate. I'm in San Diego, I'm trying to stay in San Diego, and I am hoping to have a job lined up before graduation. This would be very difficult with an Associates. Of course, there are exceptions, but that's the *general* struggle for new grads in SD. After nursing school, I cannot imagine going back to school for a VERY long time, so you have to weigh out the pro's and con's of needing to work towards your BSN shortly after getting your Associate's. As for the post-graduation job offers: many students do actually have jobs lined up. You have to keep in mind that not everyone is applying for jobs right after graduation. A lot of students plan on taking a break, preparing for the NCLEX, and then looking for jobs after some down time. So, it's not 180 students with jobs lined up right away because not that many are looking for jobs immediately after. Every decision comes back to weighing the pro's and the con's, everyone has different levels of flexibility and different goals.
  21. @drd18 Thank you so much for your reply! When I saw "house sitter" I thought it may be similar to a sitter job. I've tried contacting the hospital but it can be difficult to get through during the times I am available to call. I'm definitely looking to get my foot in the door because I will be done with nursing school next year, and I've heard how beneficial hospital work can be! Thank you again :)
  22. I'm a student and I always have a pen!! One of the first things my professor told us to do was carry at least 2-3 pens because you'll be lucky if you end the shift with all of them :)
  23. Congratulations to everyone! So excited for you guys! I'd suggest waiting to pay the enrollment deposit, you will get an email in the next day or two telling you to submit it. My cohort had a couple glitches in the system and some people who tried to pay early had issues and ended up having to call and give the school of nursing their card information over the phone. Not a huge deal, but unnecessary stress that y'all don't need :)
  24. Ah, that makes sense, thank you so much for your input!
  25. Hi! This may be a dumb question, but does anyone know the difference between a House sitter/ House PCA and unit PCA for Rady Children's? Is a house sitter similar to home health and the unit PCA similar to a CNA on the floor? Looking to apply here pretty soon and I wasn't sure which would be a better fit for me.
