Hello. Congrats on getting in! Are you able to tell me where you were able to find how to apply? When I go to the UCLA website for the program, it states that the cohorts this year have been cancelled due to covid and to keep checking back about future dates. I know it’s too late for me now, but I want to apply to the next cohort for Spring. Thanks!

Maybe due to the holidays, they could be behind on interviewing? I still have hope for you, so don’t give up quite yet. If I were you, I would try emailing somebody or figure out who to call. I do see that the requirements state that you have to have less than 9 months Acute care hospital experience, although you say you’ve been working in psych and SNF so I don’t know if this would qualify. And you meet all other requirements? I wonder how many people apply for each cohort.

I’m so sorry to hear that! Don’t give up hope! Maybe they are still calling people? Can’t you call them to follow up on your application? I will start applying to programs soon when I pass NCLEX and I’m afraid that it will be hard to get in. How long have you been applying to new grad programs? Why do you think you’re having a hard time getting in if I may ask, or is it just that they’re so competitive?

Do you know how they make their selections to interview? Do they go based off GPA or what?

Can somebody tell me how difficult it is to get into this program? Are they very competitive as far as GPA and stuff like that?

I haven’t yet because I haven’t taken NCLEX yet and they want you to have your RN license before you apply. I’m going to apply in March because I’m still waiting for my ATT. How soon after you graduated did you get your ATT?

Oh wow that makes no sense to me. I’m so sorry you’re having a hard time! Some hospitals like Cedars Sinai require that you have no previous experience since it’s a program for new grads only. So weird! Well nonetheless, don’t give up! Keep trying!

What do you mean? New grad programs actually require that you have no previous experience; at least the ones I’ve looked at. The whole point of a new grad program is to start working right after you graduate and get you oriented to nursing, so how is anybody expected to have experience fresh out of school?

Ahh I see! I just graduated with my BSN. I’m hearing that many hospitals prefer BSN now so maybe that is why you are having a hard time? So you just went straight into BSN after finishing ADN?
