Peds NP or Public Health NP
One thing I have found is that quality of life is the most important factor when considering a job. Would you want to miss the holidays with your family every other year? Also, making that extra $20,000 may only end up being $5K if it puts you into a different tax bracket, I would run the numbers through a paycheck calculator and see what the taxes and take home pay look like for your state. Depending on where you live, working for public health/state agency can provide huge benefits in terms of retirement and loan repayment. I would not sign a no compete clause regardless.

CA NP certification and furnishing number questions
Did California give you the furnishing license? I am in the same boat currently, pharm course was completed 12/11, graduated 12/12 and stared my first job shortly thereafter. So the pharmacology class was over 5 years ago and I have been practicing less than 5, so,if they stick to their guidelines I don't qualify and will have to retake the class which doesn't t make sense as I didn't miss a beat with school, took my board less than 2 weeks after graduation and stared working as soon as I was credentialed. I am waiting for a call back, not sure if I can actually expect one....

California Furnishing License
Can anyone help with this California furnishing question. I completed advanced pharm 12/29/2011, graduated 12/12, and have been working in Oregon and Idaho as an NP since 03/2103. Technically, I completed pharm over 5 years ago and only have 4.5 years of work experience, will my furnishing license be approved or will I have to retake pharm or work for another 6 months and apply again? My California RN license came through last month but my graduate transcripts were lost so I had to resend and was told it would take 4-6 weeks to process the mail once they received my new transcripts. Ugh. The people that answer the phone are not able to answer any questions! Just trying to decide if I should just work as an RN or wait a few more weeks. Thanks
