I am doing nursing at my community college but I agree with a previous poster! My son is 19 months and I am so glad I am doing all of this right now when he won't remember any of it! Lol!

I have a masters degree in another field but am going the ADN route. The hospitals in my area hire ADNs, though. I plan to complete my bachelors online after that. The cost for the nearest ABSN program was about five times as much as the ADN program and just more than we could think to afford right now. Not wanting to do the student loan thing! Just finishing it! So relevant to nursing. I learned so much about viruses and bacteria, and I was surprised how much fun I had learning to grown a staphylococcus epidermidis culture. :) also learned a lot about parasites, sicknesses around the word, HIV.....

I have a 15 month old! I am doing a part time program because of work and my son. It's a lot of work but can definitely be done. I study in the evenings after he is asleep and I make flashcards to take with me when I go places and have 15 minutes here and there to spare! A lot of the other people in my program have children.

I took AP I by itself. It's been twelve years since a science class and 10 years since I graduated college, and honestly taking AP with other classes would have been a shock to my system I think. I studied an hour every day whether I felt like I really needed to or not. AP is hard. It is a LOT of memorization! It didn't help I was in there with younger folks very familiar with using microscopes and cell structure and everything already either! :) I did well in the class, which gave me an extra boost of confidence for the rest of my prerequisites. The most important thing is to set yourself up to succeed. A refresher biology course might help. I bought a couple books before class and read them because I didn't want to spend a whole semester on it. Good luck!

I am taking general/organic/bio chemistry right now! I was about to have a panick attack before class started. I have done very well in my other classes but chemistry stresses me to the bone. Absolutely talk to your professor, even if it's just over email. Odds are your professor would arrange a time to meet with you privately if you can't make it to lab hours. I wanted to drop chemistry but my husband talked me out of it. He said if I dropped it, I was just going to be that much more anxious next time around. I am so glad I am sticking with it because I have a 96 in the class. I am taking a hybrid class, which means the lecture is online and the lab is on campus. I pester my instructor all the time. Most professors really don't mind and in fact appreciate it when a student tries. I would ask your professor what you could do better and if he/she had any tips.

My school did not look at my gpa from my previous degree. Acceptance was based on your entrance exam scores exclusively. I am getting my associates.

I live in Illinois and did not have to declare a major while taking prerequisites.
