  1. Nursing school pre requisites

    I have decided to embark on a nursing career. I currently have a Bachelor's degree in Communications. I met with a nursing program advisor. I need to boost my GPA. It was suggested I enroll in classes I.e.English 101, College Algebra. I thought I would be able to enroll in these classes at a community college. After I enrolled in the classes: i was informed I couldn't attend the classes because I had not declared a major. At the same time, I was informed their nursing program is very competitive. I don't wish to enroll in their program. Is this standard in Illinois that a person has to declare a major prior to enrolling in a class? I'm looking forward to direction. i am determined to accomplish my goal.
