Health Insurance not provided by school but needed
Hello, I start an accelerated nursing program in the fall. It is too soon for open enrollment but I need it in order to be admitted into the program. Anyone else experience this? What are some solutions? Thank you!

Too ugly to be a nurse..?!?
oh youll be fine. we all look different. youll have patients who you have no say in treating them, you may treat a racist, or a sexist or an abuser, the list goes on. what matters is you doing your job well, people need that. Trust me, having good characteristics makes a person glow on the outside. The immature people who you hear saying mean things are really the ugly ones that you will leave behind when you become a nurse.

Nurse dating former patient?
I wouldn't do it. Its not worth your license, its not worth your safety and security, its not worth the drama at work. It really sounds like you are crushing on him a bit tho. I can understand maybe he doesnt know not to call you at work, that its not like a retail job or something, one time okay fine. If hes been calling after you gave a No. you need to CYA, before this gets worse. Avoid him, warn your coworkers to not tell anyone about your whereabouts, get security to take you to your car late nights. If you are both interested in each other after some time, God will find a way for it to happen. THIS is just not the way.

ABSN or MSN CNL to be an Nurse Practitioner??
I am so thankful for your response, you have no idea. Thank you so much! It's that differentiation that I needed to hear, as I thought all MSNs were created equal and considered "advance practice". I am so glad you answered, as this was the missing link I needed to make my decision. The school would waive a few courses but I wouldn't go tot an expensive private school twice. When after practicing as a nurse Id have options. Thank you.

ABSN or MSN CNL to be an Nurse Practitioner??
I really appreciate your detailed response and I realize I have left a lot of details out that may confuse some. Thank you so much for breaking it down.. I have answered the questions above. Another question I have is, what does it mean to be grandfathered in? Are employers mandated to pay for schooling? How does that work?

ABSN or MSN CNL to be an Nurse Practitioner??
I have my Bachelors in a non nursing field, The Paths I am considering are: ABSN>NP (MSN or DNP route) MSN CNL>NP (DNP) or MSN CNL>NP (via post masters certification) I want to be a nurse practitioner with a terminal degree. Where I am located, some MSN NPs are being phased out where now they want DNP educated NPs. Does this make better sense now? I would like to know the best path for the long run as I want to do most of my schooling young before i start a family

ABSN or MSN CNL to be an Nurse Practitioner??
I have. I am still confused about a few things and I am extremely confused because there are a lot of conflicting information online. The more I hear personal experiences and use the expertise of actual nurses, the more informed I can be. Isn't that what this site is for?

ABSN or MSN CNL to be an Nurse Practitioner??
I am looking at two schools, ABSN program at a local state college (1 year, $36,000- 55,000), or MSN CNL program at a nearby private school (2 years, $100,000 -120,000). I want to be a Nurse practitioner. What is the best path I can take, I would love to be set as soon as possible so I can have a family and have the best return on my investment. I hear MSN nurses just have to go for certification to become NPs, while i guess as a BSN nurses I'd have to go for an MSN or DNP program? I also hear MSN nurse practitioners are no longer the standard but DNP? so then Id probably would go to school so that. As you can see, I am lost. Please help!

Are MSN still Grandfathered in to NP?
Oh my! Where'd you hear that? I'd love to read more.

Are MSN still Grandfathered in to NP?
OKay. I would like to know, how long can we expect there to be no mandate? I'm afraid I may get my MSN CNL and constantly look over my shoulder between the time it takes me to gain substantial experience and then go for further schooling. I just want to be a nurse practitioner and not have my path become invalid in the process. Also its very interesting you should say DNP has more research and leadership components, it may be that those components from CNL program may be transferable...(hopefully)

Are MSN still Grandfathered in to NP?
Ah ok. What makes a program "non clinical"? I'm sorry for any of my ignorance, nursing has so many directions and path options, my head hasn't stopped spinning. For the APRN advancement, is that like a certification? So i can take my MSN CNL degree and get certified as an NP?

Are MSN still Grandfathered in to NP?
Hi people, I would like to know if anyone has information on if MSN educated nurses are still being grandfathered in to Nurse Practitioners. Is this the same as DNP? And does this apply to MSN Clinical Nurse Leaders? I would just like the details on what is necessary or possible for a MSN CNL to become a nurse practitioner and where can I find more information to follow this. Thanks!

WEEKEND TO DECIDE - MSN, CNL, Accreditation, ABSN OH MY!
I know.. So what I am getting is that I should wait to apply again to get into cheaper schools? I know nursing is for me, I've been working with nurses for 9 years. Originally I was comparing due to the fact that both programs will require me to be in the same amount of debt. I have never taken out loans before and right now these schools are the only two acceptance I have. Do you think I should wait to get something cheaper?

WEEKEND TO DECIDE - MSN, CNL, Accreditation, ABSN OH MY!
I see.. thank you for that insight. I'm well aware of CNL and not leading right away, I mentioned it in my post. Could I ask, how have you seen it firsthand, any examples would be helpful? What path did you take? Do you know if MSN nurses get paid more after gaining some experience or does it not really matter at all? And yikes loan debt is crushing, I'm years behind in the process and won't have assistance for long, so a more affordable option may still not be affordable with me funding school on my own. Is it always a bad idea to go to a private school? Thanks for your input!

WEEKEND TO DECIDE - MSN, CNL, Accreditation, ABSN OH MY!
I asked, what IF they lose it and if there truly is a way to know beforehand. I feel like you can't be this frustrated when you haven't given me an answer to my question. I think it's a fair point that I did research to see if it was accredited and it is. And now I'm asking about clarification on the accredidation process, is it possible to know beforehand and what would one do in that instance. I bulleted my specific questions. I don't need judgement just guided advice. Excuse me for not wanting to make a major career move based on a rumor and not yet having a full understanding. I mean come on, I BULLETED MY QUESTIONS.

WEEKEND TO DECIDE - MSN, CNL, Accreditation, ABSN OH MY!
Yes I have not been able to get into a state school yet, I want to get started right away. I already lost 2 years of time due to a home fire. I didn't mention state schools because that is not my option at the moment. I don't know if I can say for sure what type of DNP as who knows my mind might change. What do you mean by useless? If it may give prerequisites, is that completely useless? Can you please explain what you mean?

WEEKEND TO DECIDE - MSN, CNL, Accreditation, ABSN OH MY!
Hi all you helpful people! I have to make a big decision this weekend! I got accepted into 2 programs, University of Rochester ABSN (1 year) and Seton Hall University MSN CNL (2 year). I am a NJ resident and was scheduled to move into Rochester, NY (6 hour drive) on Monday however I got accepted into SHU. I want to go to school for DNP eventually so thats why I applied. The schools are literally similar in cost (about 100,000 total) and whatever difference is almost insignificant due to the fact that I would pay it over 2 years and not a swift one year. I am not eligible for private loans and have yet to have access to a worthy cosigner. In essence, whatever Im allowed to borrow better be worth paying back. With UR we are scrambling to make payments as soon as June, SHU doesn't start until August, so I have some time. There was a rumor that Seton Hall was losing their accreditation. I checked on CCNE website and they are accredited until 2019 (I would still be a student but the review is coming up this fall) I'm losing sleep because cost is not the main issue, it is the value of the degree and how far it will take me. Some of my questions are: What does it mean to be a student when a school is scheduled for accreditation review? What if they don't make it? Will I be without a job and have to retake courses to get my DNP? I know CNL portion is not really in use at first as a new nurse, Id still be entry level but does that mean the pay is different? Or that it increases more significantly after I put in years work? Is an MSN even valuable to DNP schools? Is it valuable to employers? With DNP being the direction of advanced nurse degrees, how do I know that in 10 years my MSN will be worth anything? Is it possible for a school to know if they are at risk for losing accreditation before they actually lose it? Where can I find this information! Do jobs fund MSN to DNP or is it only a ADN thing and I'm on my own? My goals are: Eventually earn DNP Take least steps to becoming DNP Apply for loans once within 10 years Have creditors trust me to be able to pay back the loans Get a good job, making the most I can of my degree Be able to care for myself should I be on my own (I pretty much get one chance to ask for money from family) Hope this helps you understand my situation. Any Ideas will help, I'm literally sick over it.

MSN CNL program at seton hall University fall 2018
HI you all. Can you please tell me the accreditation status for the school? I hear that they have lost accreditation.
