  1. I would say you have an advantage. I'm a Canadian trained RN, got my BSN here in Canada, Most hospitals are only hiring IEN's from the Philippines. I have applied to more than 80 positions at various hospitals within Toronto, I have a solid resume, two science degrees (one from York University. one in nursing of course from UNB) and IEN's are hired faster than I am.
  2. Hi everyone, I'm a new RN (4 months in), I did by Kinesiology degree from York University, and now I have by Nursing degree from University of New Brunswick (Collab with Humber college). Most hospitals I have done placements in as well as my consolidation only had IENs from the Philippines. I am not from there, I am Canadian educated and I only speak English, not Tagalog. Most hospitals it seems mostly hire IEN's. Is there a reason for this?
  3. Seneca was awesome, I was very happy with the program. Professors are caring & extremely intelligent.
  4. Hello all, I have faced many calamities within the last 7 months. My wife left me, as a result, I lost my home. I also had a car accident, I was rear ended and lost my car, a good friend of mine committed suicide and most recently, I ruptured my patellar tendon. Due to these calamities, I petitioned to have a course dropped late as I failed it (Complex nursing, NURS 4121). I honestly feel I would've done better and passed had it not been for these circumstances, however, Humber thought otherwise and rejected my petition. And yes, I obviously provided documentation to them. I find this pretty unfair. Anyone else have this experience humber college?
  5. They'll never change the requirements, everyone wants to be an RN so things will only get harder. Humber is ***ED. Bridging wasn't bad actually, 74% is a lot of pressure but I liked it and did well. As for the rest of the program, that's another story. Where to begin? Research is ***ED. Acute is ***ED. The fact that you have a family makes it hard. Most people in this program don't even have a job except the RPN's. If you can be older and unemployed, well that's great, but for those who work, like me, good luck. Other schools aren't much better either. Mcmaster is terrible to students, same with Nipissing. Ontario Tech is the best school but it's impossible to get in.
  6. Sure, DM me here or e-mail me at [email protected]
  7. If you want to go to the RN program they do look at the average. RPN is apparently good, lots of good teachers I heard. I did mine at Seneca, which had fantastic, passionate professors. Humber's RN program is filled with radical left winged nut jobs. One professor, Barbara Kennedy, basically spends the entire class ranting about "Covid conspiracies". She said anyone who is not Covid vaccinated or doesn't wear a mask can go to jail. Really? So we're going to censor any "misinformation" but we'll teach RN students that not wearing a mask gets you behind bars? OK. Getting your money's worth in this class. Next up, got a research course where the class average is just under 60%, sweet. By the way, these are all keen, over achieving "A" students and not even ONE of them cracked a B on our nursing research exam. If you can bridge anywhere, go to UOIT. Way easier, less stress. *** Humber.
  8. I hate it, this program is terrible. Bridging was good, with mostly good professors. Third year RN is a nightmare. Go elsewhere, Humber is garbage.
  9. HOAE is pretty easy to be honest, I did it for Seneca's entrance. Not much to study for it to be honest. If you graduated high school you should be just fine
  10. Our classes don't start until January 18th, are you sure orientation is on January 4th?
  11. The first semester is 3 courses online, as per her e-mail
  12. They cleared it up. So 3 courses online in the Winter than in the fall we have in person classes. Cool.
  13. I just registered, and that was a weird experience. I have 6 courses for the Winter semester, 3 are in class, 3 on line. I was told the first semester was all on line and only 3 classes. Anyone else have issues with this?
