  3. I know this is an older post but to sit for certification as a Case manager you must meet basic eligibility requirements. For example Category 1: 12 months of acceptable full-time case management employment experience supervised by a board-certified case manager (CCM®) who has been certified for at least 12 months. Supervision is defined as the systematic and periodic evaluation of the quality of the delivery of the applicant's case management services. Or Category 2: 24 months of acceptable full-time case management employment experience. (Supervision by a CCM is not required under this category). Or Category 3: 12 months of acceptable full-time case management employment experience as a supervisor of individuals who provide case management services. Acceptable employment experience MUST meet the following conditions: A. At least 30% of qualified work time must focus primarily on case management practice. B. Perform at least four of The Five Core Components of Case Management Within each of the four of the five core components, you must: Perform all Eight Essential Activities with Direct Client Contact Provide services across a continuum of care, beyond a single episode of care that addresses the ongoing needs of the individual being served. Be responsible for interacting with other relevant parties within the client's healthcare system. C. Your qualifying case management experience MUST be obtained in the United States. From a Certified Case Manager hope this helps
  4. I agree with this post and the legalities and financial aspects of the Federal initiative for CPOM. Although proper paper documentation will never leave us. For example in 2017, major and extensive power outages from CAT 3-4 hurricanes temporarily forced 100% paper documentation for everything.
  5. I just happen to come across this post; let me say that I do "agree" with the overwhelming opinion of hysteria regarding sugar "toxins". Although, I also wish to state that "I" found the article the writer referred to "interesting" for the following reasons. 1-It was found in "JAMA" or the Journal of the American Medical Association. This is a "peer-reviewed" medical journal, it publishes original research, reviews, and editorials. JAMA Internal Medicine*is an international peer-reviewed journal, seeks to provides information that may lead to positive change in our health and patient care delivery. Thus this process ideally subjects an author's "scholarly work, research or ideas" to the scrutiny of other experts in the same field. The article the writer referred to can be (copy & paste) found at... JAMA.*2012;307(12):1273-1283. doi:10.1001/jama.2012.339 ( Journal of the American College of Cardiology Volume 57, issue 16, April 19, 2011- Pages 1690-1696) 2-*In addition, one of the American Heart Association recommendations for the general population is aim to improve "blood glucose" or sugar intake while eating a healthy or my words a "healthier diet" . The AHA "7" cardiovascular health recommendations or "metrics": not smoking; being physically active; having normal blood pressure, blood glucose and total cholesterol levels, and weight; and eating a healthy diet) you may read yourself just access the link or copy and paste... Elsevier: Article Locator and read this article. Articles may also be found at Google scholar with the full doi.org links above I "do not fear any sugar toxins", or "radical diets". I do believe each one of us here can contribute to our Nursing Scientific knowledgebase; and maybe mini-self research or self assessment or topics that interest us or our patients. I also admit that I enjoy the opportunity to annually make and keep a few of my New Years resolutions...to be a bit more cognizant of my Life and health choices, habits, and take note of what best benefits me in this gift called Life. Thanks all!
  6. I totally understand...
  7. After working in Acute care, Behavioral health, Insurance companies, Emergency room, Quality, etc. through out past 25+ years, I studied 2 hours or so daily for a month prior to exam. I studies all the 5 areas of Case Management: (Care Delivery & Reimbursement Methods Psychosocial Concepts & Support Systems Quality & Outcomes Evaluation Rehabilitation Concepts & Strategies Ethical, Legal & Practice Standards) Passed this august 2017! I took the test and still had 1/2 of the allotted time left. Wishing you the very best of outcomes.
  8. Quite amusing indeed, needed a quick laugh, Thanks!
  9. I took the CCM in August 2017, thankful I passed. I did study a lot about 2 hours daily for 2 months, and am a seasoned RN, worked Acute, Home health, Rehab, Employee health and Workers Comp prior. I made sure I understood and familiarized myself with ALL the CCM vocabulary on their Website! I was nervous but actually was well prepared. Thankfully I now have my CCM. I am sure you do too or are on your way!
  10. Looking forward to feedback and especially comments, Thank you for your valuable input!
  11. Are you ready to become certified? Lets take a poll on the best study methods from those about to take exam and for all those that have taken the new updated CCM exam beginning last August 2016!
