Why would people choose to go to a NURSE PRACTITIONER as opposed to a physician?
I also think np's give better service and are more apt to listen to your feelings. The one I use was able to fine out I had post polio syn. Becouse of her I found out early and am trying to stay at same level. several doctors had failed but she did not.

DOT physicals
Not sure what you are looking for but will say giving physicals in a 4 hour time period does not sound like having much time for each if there are very many to be done on that day. You can't be to complete that is for sure. We are required to check hernias so seems to me more time is needed if there is many applicants

Physical exam question
I have come to the conclusion in the last 10-15 years that female Drs. are more comples in what ever they are doing. If i am spending my money then I want the most for it so I will always go to female when possible and not let it bother me what ever she does. My polio is comming back and it took a female to discover it.

Nurses with MS or similar disorders

Thinking of nursing but in holistic way,
not being really up on holistic nursing or medicine what is the big difference in there method. Does a patient of holistic medicine receive complete physicals like traditional medicine from either the np or dr.

NP's are okay to see if you have a cold, BUT...
After having so much trouble with my legs. A np is the only person who was able to realize my polio was comming back. She takes the extra time with patients. Being male but it does not bother me at all.

Chaperone or not during exam
I think your check box is a great idea. I am a male and go to female internist with no problem but I feel any time a person goes to new Dr. a nurse should be present. Personally would prefer female as never seen a male nurse in any office.

female dr. male pt.
there have been several posts of late about male nurses in L&D. Which I see no problem with. My question is then why when a woman goes to male Dr. there is always nurse back but there is never a nurse back with male patient. Having given and recieved many physicals i see no difference in the amount of possible embarrassment. With the male there is hernia check testiculay cancer check prostate check and circumcision chect on some males. I personally go to female internist and have no problem with it but have never been ask if i wanted a nurse back. why the double standard. any response would be appreciated
