Welcome to all of you who are accepted to the CNL program. I’m a soon to be graduate of the class of 2019, the third cohort in this program. Hope you choose this program. I lived in Philadelphia for 15 years, and now reside in Cape May N.J.; hope to return to PA to practice this fall. We have such a wonderful group of faculty here, and good clinical placements throughout the metro area. Lots to weigh as you make the decision. Good luck.

Classes are typically together. Clinical schedules vary depending upon where you have the clinical rotation. Our clinical groups are typically no larger than 7 of us. The instructors are superb. The hours end up being in the neighborhood of 1200 I think by the end of our program. The final semester is approximately 350 clinical hour immersion. First semester we all had off Friday. That was nice. Many of us have off Friday again this semester.

There are a handful from the DC area (MD, VA and DC) in the program. We have 4 from the west coast and 1 or 2 from the Midwest. The rest are from various areas on the east coast.

Time management should be a serious priority out of the gate. That being said you have time for a personal life somewhat and need to be sure you take time to yourself every week. I head to museums regularly to decompress and go home to see my family in NJ every few weeks. There are study sessions, we study together in small groups, there is tutoring, and professors do put together detailed presentations. You'll find the right way to study. It all depends on your style of learning.

I've love the program thus far. These first two semesters have a lot of work, that should be expected. Advanced health assessment as well as advanced Patho and Pharm are the most challenging courses to date. I'm happy I decided to come to Georgetown. The program is highly respected and the instructors are exceptional. You'll be amazed how much you know once you've gotten into the second semester. Like you I was accepted to other programs that were ABSN programs, but I'm certain the CNL designation will set me apart, and allow me to progress quickly. Those are my two cents on the topic.
