Two collegues of mine came to my hospital from Vandy-Trauma. There are new grads there...basically, it is great experience with all types of lines. They both said that everyone who worked Trauma and applied to MTSA, got in. The only exception they knew of was one person with personality deficits that came across in the interview. There is an advanced patho class at Vanderbilt that applicants to MTSA are "encouraged" to take to become a more attractive applicant.....classroom and distance options. If not Trauma, SICU or MICU. I have two friends that came to my smaller community hospital from Vandy-Trauma. They said there were new grads there....however, what a baptism of fire! I think it would be a great learning experience. They said they had lines of all sorts there. Also, basically everyone who works in trauma there gets into MTSA...unless the person has serious personality deficits which don't go over well in the interview. SICU would be a great choice also. I have been accepted to crna school and would also love to hear how others came to chose this profession. What was it that sparked your interest? What was it that made going back to school preferable to doing something easier? What is it now (as a CRNA) that makes you look forward to work? Is there anything you don't like about your work? Definitely still a chance! Please force yourself to be positive about it. I spent the two weeks following my interview dismantling my hopes and dreams. I, too, was convinced the interviewers hated me. In fact, I couldn't remember one positive thing they mentioned about my overall "package" of qualifications. Two weeks later, a certified letter came. By that time I had forgotten to look for one. It was my acceptance letter! I say all this to say, I really damaged my feelings about myself and CRNA school in those weeks following the interview. And even when I learned I got in, my response was less enthusiastic because of it. It has taken time to build myself back up. I believe everyone will admit, this can be a very humbling process. To all of those still waiting to hear....it IT IS POSSIBLE to snag your skirt, get a hole in your stockings, a firey blister on your foot (from very sweaty feet in heels), believe that your interview was a bust....AND STILL GET IN! Hold tight and believe in yourself. etherchick
