  1. Hello everyone. Was just seeking advice and info from students/grads who attended OU and/or U of D Mercy. I have been accepted to one but now have an interview with another. If you could share your experience with me I would greatly appreciate it! PM if you'd like! Thanks again.
  2. Congrats to you Jewelcutt! you are an inspiration to us all.
  3. Oakland University fall 2007!!! I am so excited! Good Luck to us all. I know it will be a hard road, but we will make it!
  4. I"ll be there, got my call today, thanks everyone for your support, you guys are awesome!:loveya:
  5. Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement! It is a relief to know that I am not alone. I told peopele the same thing (no way i am getting in) so we will see, and i will keep you posted) I did immediately sent a thank you letter, although I could not remember the fifteen interviewers, I sent letter to heads and addressed to interview committee. Thanks guys XOXO:blushkiss
  6. Hey everyone, been a while since I posted but I've been hard at work finishing my BSN, working in CVICU, and volunteering. I recently interviewed and I feel I did not present myself as well as I should have. It was a panel interview and there were no clinical questions, just ethical/general questions. I was sooo nervous I could here my voice shake, did I mention I am an INTJ :). I have excellent GPA, CV, references, goal statement. I wish I could do it all over again!! What will count more: my interview or my supporting info? I HOPE I still have a chance!!! Please any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated.
  7. I will be returning to school in the fall and I am having some reluctancy as to which career I want to pursue. I have always had an interest in pharmacy, but had become a nurse instead. Now I am going back in hopes of becoming A CRNA. The closer I become the more nervous I get and second guess myself and my decisions. I guess I feel anesthesia is definetly more stressful than pharmacy, yet more fulfilling and exciting. Do I want excitement, along with stress, or relaxation and boredom? I imagine CRNAs salaries are higher, but isn't the pay comparable. Do you feel with all the responsibilitiy, that you are compensated accordingly. It is not all about the money to me, as I want to retire doing something I enjoy, that fulfills me. But I don't want to work under constant stress. I have a growing family, and I want to come home in one piece, if you know what I mean. I plan on looking into shadowing both professionals, but advice from you guys would greatly be appreciated, thank you.
  8. telemetry can be a very demanding unit. you may find yourself constantly treating chest pain for which some docs like troponins and ekg's with every occurance. you may be battling good old Afib with RVR and trying to keep the heart rate in a safe range. you wil be monitoring post caths and EPS. Two things to do is DEFINETLY get comfortable in reading 12 lead ekg's, don't trust the machine's interpretation, and be comfortable with ACLS medications, as you will be using them. cardiology is an interest field, I'm sure you will love it, good luck!
  9. thank you both for your info, it is very much appreciated, CRNA, DNCs, I did see that Henry Ford had voluntary closure status, guess I was just hoping they would start up again, love to have completed clinical there, it's an awesome teaching hospital. Guess my decisions are being made for me :chuckle thank you both
  10. thank you for your suggestion, I'm an RN will have BSN in a year and a half. which hospital do you recommend, beaumont or ford's, I'd greatly appreciate your reply
  11. Hi all. Just wondering if there are any CRNAs/SRNAs from detroit area. I am looking at different universities to attend CRNA school. I don't know which are the better of the two, if there is such a thing. Oakland university sounds good, but I here University of Detroit Mercy is good, too. Any advice. I am starting my BSN in fall, so I have time. Thanks for the info.
  12. thank you guys for the info, as every little bit helps. I will definetly check with the university I plan on attending before I start this program. Again, thaky so much, it's appreciated
  13. Hi Ben, I am getting ready to go back for my BSN completion to reach my ultimate goal of CRNA. I guess I'm a little confused as to go to a universtiy campus or complete via online University of P to be exact. I guess I feel that when applicaton time comes will they pick me over the university campus student? should I get my BSN where I plan on attending my CRNA program? I currently work stepdown, getting ready to move to CCU or SICU, and I don't know which would be best. Which route are you taking, and if you have any suggestions I'm all ears, Good Luck
  14. just wondering if the CRNAs feel like they have more autonomy in their practice. Do they regret their decision. how are the hours. Are you still stuck doing the every other weekend and holiday thing. can you stay in one particular area of anesthesia. I' d appreciate some input. thanks.
