Process of an AA-BSN route

I know for sure i'm doing an AA with my school. I understand that if you chose an AA over an AS its because your planning on transferring to a university to earn a BSN. My question is: after i complete my AA (which should take about a year) would I have to go straight into nursing school, OR would i have to transfer to the state university of my choice and finish my pre-requisites there, then start nursing school.

PS. if i do need to transfer to the state university of my choice and finish my pre-requisites there would i have to start nursing school at that particular university or could i apply anywhere

I'm live in Florida, and go to Broward College by the way.

You can take your prereqs at a community college- no need to waste money on higher tuition. Wherever you do your prereqs, you should be able to transfer them to whichever school you plan to attend.

May I ask why you're getting an AA if you know you plan to go into nursing?

AA vs. AS really doesn't mean anything. The university doesn't care about that. They are only going to look at the actual courses you took.

Thanks allot you answered one of my questions! Can you answer the other one: would I have to go straight into nursing school after completing my AA? OR would i have to transfer my AA credits to the university i choose, finish my pre-requisites there, and then start nursing school?

To answer your question why i'm getting an AA if i know im planing to go into nursing: My dream has always been to go to a large school such as FIU or if i had a large scholarship, The University of Miami. That's the reason why im getting an AA, that way i can go to a bigger school. I know it sound really silly, when i can do the same program at my current school, but i guess you can say its my ego unfortunately.

This.

I have an AA; I transferred into a university, where my pre-req's were accepted, then completed my nursing courses; I had three university courses that I needed to complete, but I was able to with my nursing courses during the summer.

It really doesn't matter, as long as you have the required courses.

The university really doesn't care about an associate's degree. Honestly, it's a waste of time.

You can either do your prereqs at the community college or at the university. It's the same way either way, but less expensive at the community college. If you take them there, they will transfer to the university.

Regardless of where in your path you get your AA, if you choose to do so (still confused as to why, because it honestly doesn't mean a thing), you'll need to have all of your prerequisites completed before you can start nursing school. Whether you do them before or after your associate's is up to you.
