I had a terrible case of plantar fasciitis during nursing school and for the first few months in orientation. I bought a pair of Dansko Pro's and my feet felt great for a long time. However, now I have pretty bad medial knee pain when I wear them. It took me awhile to determine if it was the shoes or some other cause, but I am pretty certain its the shoes.
My question is whether anyone else has had similar problems with that brand and if other styles provided relief. Thanks for any input!

I loved my Danskos. They were comfortable for me. But after a while I got tendonitis in my feet from then. Then the tendonitis aggravated my planta faciitis. My podiatrist said I have the kind of feet that need more support than clogs, and even the Danskos with heels don't give enough support.

i LOVE my danskos, but i find that my feet need a break every once in awhile and i will throw a pair of sneakers on for a night just to break it up. i have also found that if you wear them a lot they need to be replaced probably every year, for me anyways i am so hard on my shoes~ i am the foot slapper, due to the fact that i feel as though i am always rushing around!

I like my Danskos but I have wondered if they are causing me more harm than good. They seem to hard and too high to be that great for my back, feet. Yet tennies are way too hot. I do like that Danskos protect my toes from bed wheels etc. If anyone finds a great alternative I would love to hear!
Thanks for all your comments! I have tried alternating shoes and actually wore them for the first time in about a month 2 nights ago and had pretty significant knee pain about half-way through the shift I truly love them, nothing had been as comfortable and easy on my feet before, but this knee thing is a deal breaker...

I was having lower back and calf pain after 13 hours in my dansko professionals. Chucked them and started wearing my asics running shoes. They are mostly mesh so no hot feet, and I put some powder in my socks just in case. At the end of the day, I am pain free and my feet don't stink like they did with the danskos.

Old thread, but I'm glad I found it! I also have Dansko clogs, wear them all the time (I work retail, and am on my feet all day), and have been having medial knee pain lately. I'm also a runner, and for awhile I was worried I had a stress fracture. But then I realized that I didn't have any pain while running! I took a break from the clogs, and discovered that my knee pain went away. I love the way the clogs look, but I've realized I can't wear them too often.

Bold and underlining mine.
LOL sorry. I'm sorry that your knee is hurting....but find your solution amusing.
Why is it not uncommon to find women who wear shoes that cause pain.....because they like the look?
Yes, I guess it is ironic that I continue wearing my supposedly orthopedically-sound shoes even though they cause pain. I guess I just couldn't believe that shoes that were supposed to be the greatest thing since sliced bread for those that stand and walk all day were actually the cause of my knee pain. Guess I'll go back to my high heels.

I had a pair of Dansko, it fitted good, but I ran into the same problem as Nursenpnk, I needed a break from it once in a while. I just need shoes that can run with me non stop :) Now I have a few pairs of Alegria Clogs, they have been good to my feet.

I love my Danskos, they're a bit less "cloggy" and have really rather thick soles. About the only things more comfortable on my feet are my back packing boots... and I cant wear those at work!
