Prerequs this summer??

I am applying to the Quincy College part time ASN program for Jan 2013 start. The application deadline is July 15. However I need to take 2 prereques before that - Chemistry and A&P 1. I am hoping to take them both in a "Summer session 1" that ends before July 15.

I know this is a lot to do in a summer session but I'm a good student and determined to set aside enough time outside of class to study.

My main concern is whether these 2 classes will be offered in a summer session 1 in one of the community colleges around Boston? Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of this? It seems that none of the schools have released their summer schedules yet.

Why don't you ask at Quincy which Boston-area community colleges they accept credits from. Then you will have a list of colleges to call to ask if they are offereing chemistry and A&P in an early summer session.

Here's a link that shows all the community colleges in Massachusetts.

Why not take them at Quincy?

I might - but they don;t have their summer schedule out yet either (none of the schools do.) I am just hoping they have a summer session 1 that ends before 7/15.

Also Quincy has this pesky thing where they want me to take Algebra before Chemistry - which would push everything back - but I think I found a way around that. I am using this time right now to study for the Algebra CLEP exam and assuming I can pass that, I think I'll be able to register for Chem.

North Shore Community College offers both classes during the summer. Unfortunately they only have one summer session and the classes don't end till August. They currently have last year's schedule up and they usually repeat those classes each summer.

I am fairly sure that QC has summer AP at least. There is a great prof there that teaches AP.

chemistry should be offered i took an accelarated 5 week course in the summer of 2011 ( first session) at Quincy , not sure if A&P was offered. I hurried to get all my pre req's in to apply to the part-time RN program only for the deadline to be extended by a month... i didnt get in anyway :( but i got into BHSON :) ... GOOD LUCK!!!!

I think we're doing exactly the same thing in terms of taking classes and applying! I'm shooting for January 2013 start at QC too.

To answer your question. Yes, QC did offer AP1 for session 1 among its "5-week" courses that start in late May and finish in late June. They also offer a 10-week course, but that doesn't end 'til August.

On the other hand though...the pre-req requirement is Chem, A&P 1 *OR* Biology with lab (must be taken within the past 5 years).

That's cool umbdude, I hope we both get in! Yes they just listed those classes and I already went down and signed up for both of the ones I need - yeah!

Thanks I hope for the same. It looks like there aren't any Saturday classes during the summer at QC...I think I might have to go for session 2 for A&P 1 or do it at another school.
