Prerequisites grades

I apologize in advance for the long post. I personally got a B in every class except Micro in which I got a C. I applied to a local ADN program that had a wait list at the time in the Spring of 2009 but when they got grants for extra spots, they chose students with higher pre-req grades. I applied to 3 BSN programs that year but got denied. I had done really well on the TEAS 4.0 (90.6% adjusted), had volunteer experience and just started working as an ER Tech but then transferred to a university to work on a non-nursing bachelor's while I waited on the wait list. I irresponsibly didn't take the TEAS V by the required date for the ADN program so I got my application withdrawn. I would've started at the beginning of this year. I took the TEAS V this past January, got an 83% and applied to a BSN program that initially denied me but then accepted me due to accepted candidates choosing other programs! I think what helped me was that I was a part of the local service area, my TEAS test results (they didn't factor in the science, which was my worst subject on the test so I got maximum points) , my work experience, having a Bachelor's degree and speaking Spanish. I pretty much had to make up for my low pre-req GPA by getting points for everything else.

At least with the F you will be able to retake the class, some schools that have points systems penalize for retakes while others don't. I wouldn't worry about the B just do the best you can in the remaining classes to make yourself more competitive. Good luck!

I live in AZ and right now the waiting list to get into a community college is 3 years. But here as long as you pass the required classes you can apply to nursing school and in AZ as long as you retake A&P 2 and get a better grade that'll be the grade that shows up. Hopefully that helps. Good luck.
