preparing for the nclex

so in a few months i will be taking the nclex and im hearing from different people the questions are unlike anything they have seen in nursing school....can someone please fill me in on this, i mean i know it may be a long shot but does anyone have an example type question because im hearing the questions on nclex are worded funny or maybe these people didnt do enough practice questions before they took the test

so if anyone could be of assistance with my question i would appreciate it

thanks

I think the problem with the NCLEX is that it's designed to get you to a point where you're only answering 50% of the questions right. Of course an exam is going to seem extra difficult or "like nothing you've seen before"..because you've probably never taken an exam you got 50% on. The questions themselves were very much like what I'd seen on nursing school exams, they were just at a much higher level than what I was used to being tested on, and they asked about content I maybe skimmed, once, 4 semesters ago. There was no tricky wording or anything that I encountered. I feel the only way to "study" for this exam is to take as many practice questions as you feel you need. I took 50 questions every other day, and read a review book while I was at jury duty, and I passed. Your mileage may vary :)

Examples of NCLEX type questions can be found in various NCLEX review books.
