Preceptor problems in Georgia

Published

I was wondering if any online NP students in Georgia had major trouble in finding preceptors timely. I am trying to decide on attending South University or Chamberlain NP program. Both programs require you to find your own preceptors and I would really hate for this to have me graduating later than expected. Please share your input.

Hi I live in Georgia too. I am starting ISU FNP distance program in the fall and we have to find our own preceptors as well. What I intend to do is start looking now, clinicals starts 2016. I intend to ask my ob gyn MD, my kids MD and an internal medicine office that I visits. So please do the same. Start looking now.

Yes, I will definitely do that now. Thanks for the input.

Which program did you accept?

Sorry for just now responding my schedule has been crazy. At this point I will be going with Chamberlain because they have more resources in the metro area than South. Also I was waiting on GSU letter but I have to move forward at this point.

Specializes in Emergency.

I would second the suggestion that you build a network in your local provider community. This will come in handy time and time again. You never know what curves life is going to throw you, so having friends in many locations around you, those who can give you advice, help you find jobs, understand what you are going through and know you when you ask for help is always a good thing to have on your side.

Thanks zmansc for the advice. I have some resources but of course the need to add is grave for the future. I just hate to wait a lengthy time on a preceptor.
