POSITIVITY

Nurses Rock

Published

Sometimes this site can be a little disheartening. I love to read allnurses to hear the struggles and hopefully the joys that we experience as professionals in this profession. But sometimes it is so sad to see how quick we all are to jump down each others throats and be condescending. Sometimes the posts are just mean. I just want to say that sometimes people post on here looking for support and advice but probably not to be beaten up via the Internet. It's hard not to be harsh when typing but lets all try to be encouraging! But most importantly NURSES ROCK! Lets all uplift each other in times of need!

Sometimes, with the intent of giving some realistic advice, posts don't always convey the the tone in which a message is intended.

Sometimes people just have no filter.

However, downright mean-ness is another thing entirely. And there's a button in the bottom left corner of posts where one can report questionable posts. The administration on this site I know have a low tolerance for outright nastiness. And have TOS rules that posters need to abide by.

If you feel that someone is being beat up via the internet, report it. The administration will review it.

I assumed you could report but didn't know how thank you! I wouldn't ever do that if it wasn't myself being attacked but I just think we need to all be mindful of how we approach topics and responses. This site is meant to be a resource and forum for individuals that share a common interest. But I agree it is hard to respond kindly when topics are heated. I will say sometimes it is like a train wreck, they are awful to watch but sometimes I can't stop reading because it gets so interesting on here

Guess what? I'm not a real nurse, I'm a nursing STUDENT, but I'm commenting on your post anyway, because I totally agree. Sheesh. Like high school sometimes. It's just as easy to "convey" support and niceness as it is pettiness and meanness. (I'm the grammar police and I'm giving myself a citation for that word (meanness), because it looks all wrongified.) Keep calm and Rock on, nurses.

positivity is the key! you are right. some people here have no respect to others' opinions..

Positivity is powerful and a little positive energy can turn a persons whole day around! Just one person encouraging you has the potential to make or break your day (or more!). There is negativity on this site -- but for each negative post I encounter, I find two positive posts to keep everything in perspective.

Very true that's what I try to remember at work or at clinicals during school, it's hard for people to dislike you or be harsh if you're smiling!

So don't forget to use the smileys on AN.com!;) God knows they have enough different ones!

I have been taken seriously while posting a very sarcastic response (on other boards):sarcastic:. As a rule, if readers are mean/negative themselves, they tend to read more negativity into what one posts. And the smileys do help in that situation.

Lolol I'm so out of the loop on smileys. Outside of my iPhone emoji's I'm at a loss. But yes a smiley always lightens the mood
