I was wondering if you fellow nurses out there have experience with my current issue. I recently had a positive PPD >10mm, and it was discovered while I was seeking employment at another facility. I had chest X-RAY which was negative, so I assumed that I was fine. Well, unfortunately, all is not well. According to my new facility, I am required to take the 9 month INH therapy in order for us to move forward with employment. I asked the ID doc at my new facility that if I got the blood test (TB gold test) and it was negative,if I would still have to take the therapy. He told me that based on the PPD, I would still have to take the medication regardless of the blood test results. I'm going through all the motions and required actions for exposure, but I have known other nurses with positive PPDs who are only required to have a chest x-ray. Any advice would be appreciated as I'm not sure that I want to put myself through 9 months of meds with labs etc...
