Hello,
Ive browsed online and through the forums without much success to find a program that meets my needs. I'm a ASN prepared nurse with a BA in another field. I'm looking for a online RN-PMHNP program. I've found a lot of just online ones...I think UAB is online? But are there any online programs for just ASN nurses or those with a degree in another field?
If I have to get my bsn I will. But I'm just wondering if I could bypass this option.
Thanks!

I don't know of any programs that provide this option. You could do an RN-MSN bridge program then get a post master's PMHNP. Just a thought. I'm currently in a PMHNP program. I earned my BSN online. Good luck!

I have been searching for something similar with not much luck. My situation is a little different though... I have a BS in Health Science with a minor in Psych, and I'm currently in a BSN program. I'm trying to find an online program that will allow me to start taking some of the core courses for PMHNP while I am finishing my BSN. The program I am currently in used to have an honors program that allowed you to take 10 hours towards your masters while completing your BSN, but they took that away this year when I became eligible.... Just my luck! I know many programs want you to have a year of working as a psych RN before you can apply as well. I have worked as a recreation therapist at a mental health facility for the past six years, maybe that could count? If any has any guidance I would appreciate it! Best of luck!
Thanks! I guess it would be best if I bridged and got my BSN first. Although I think UAB's does have an option to get your MSN if you have another degree. http://www.uab.edu/nursing/home/images/stories/info_sa/RN_MSN_Fact_Sheet.pdf
Not sure if it includes their pmhnp program though.

From everything I've heard and read about Frontier it's a unique program and an excellent school, but they don't have a PMHNP program -- just Nurse-Midwife and FNP. Their early history was a focus on rural nursing, sending nurses out on horseback to tend to isolated patients. Most of it is online, with several "intensive" sessions at their campus. If I was looking to do an ADN-FNP program, had three or four years of available time and $45K for tuition I would certainly be interested in Frontier.

Fairly accurate description of Frontier, current offerings are CNM (which they call CNEP I think), WHNP, and FNP. I know when I was last on campus, four months ago, I talked with the Dean of Nursing who mentioned at that time that FNU was considering starting a PMHNP program. It was/is in the early stages, so I don't think it is going to be happening anytime soon, but it's apparently not out of the question!
