Halo , dear all!
i will study the nursing degree programme in AUS next year as my first degree. However, i only got two offers which by the Australian Catholic University (North Sydeny campus) and the Murdoch University. I really hope there is someone who would like to share the experience of studying at ACU and Murdoch.
I have never been to AUS and i do not have any friends who are living there. Fortunately, i am very grateful to join this wedsite.
Please, i really do not know which school is suitable for me to study, and how can i compare with the Nursing programme with the different schools?
thank you so much for reading my message.
best wish

Hello and welcome!! You might have to wait a little to get your answer as the activity on this forum is can be intermittant. I am sure though you will get someone soon.
Personally I would look closely at the curricula of each university and the amount of clinical time as broad indicators. Best of luck!!
Hey!!Gwenith, thank you for replying.
i hope that i will have more sharing of the expereinces from this wedsite.

Hi, Murdoch is in Perth and ACU in Sydney. It is cheaper to live in Perth than Sydney, I would also consider the cost of university fees from each university. The curriculum of both would meet the registration board requirements. ACU have been educating nurses for a very long time, but Murdoch only since 2004. Sydney probably has no on campus accomodation, where Murdoch probably does. I would also consider the friendliness of the replies you are getting from the universities.

thank you so much!
Um, i confuse with sth about the recognize of nursing students after the graduation between Murdoch and ACU.
i understand it each states in AUS is had different requirements for the nursing students to register the licences. Says, the English requirement for overseas student is IELTS. 7 in WA, but NSA is not. (if this is incorrect, please correct it)
However, there is sth i do not understand it.
i have read carefully the prospectus of ACU and Murdoch, also the wedsite as well.
The graduates of Murdoch will be eligible for registration in D. 1 of the register as Comprehensive Registered Nurses, also the programme has been accredited by the Nurses Board of WA. What is more, graduates can apply for reciprocal registration with any states in AUS.
It really clearly tell me the professional recognition and the advantage to choose this university.
On the other hand, ACU, the graduates will be eligible for registration as a nurse with the relevant State authority.
What is relevant State authority means?
WHat is the name of Nurse Board of NSW?
CAn someone tell me what is the difference between ACU and Murdoch's graduates?
thank you so much.:penguin:
really need you guys helps......plz
All states have mutual recognition - once you are registered in one then you are recognised in all of the others. The difference in the two is only wording - ACU simply saying that you could register with ANY state after you finish.
icicici right now.
thank you woo!

Any government-approved nursing degree in Australia will allow you to gain reciprocal registration in any other Australian state.
The registration board of New South Wales is the Nurses and Midwives Board : http://www.nmb.nsw.gov.au/
The best way, apart from the university curriculum, to decide between these (very different) options is to choose whether you would rather live in Sydney (very large, busy city, quite expensive but very good access to everything, east coast), or Perth (geographically isolated, small city, small CBD, much cheaper cost of living, beautiful places around it, west coast).
You end up with the same degree, so choose by how much you'll enjoy your life while you're doing it. I live in Sydney and know some people at ACU (postgraduate) who enjoy it very much, PM me if you need more info.
i am pleased to receive the messages here and got the warm helps.
thank you for sharing your wonderful opinoins.
after i got you guys opinoins, which gwenith, augigi and joannep. it really help me to think about it where i should go. it is believed that i have to choose the place where i would love to live in the future, my three yrs experince in aus. what is more, compare with the universities curriculum which i need it.
um,........i will let you guys know it my final decision.
cheer up
